I’ve always been curious about this coaching dynamic. Whether at the training center or in the corner. Feel like Zadick’s pointers are looked at as “yea, sure dude”
Jesus guys.

Bill is very respected by the RTC coaches. And he does the dirty work of being on UWW's good side. We're getting a lot more calls now and he's a huge reason why.

Does he have the cakiest of cake jobs? Yup. But he does his job as the leader of the US team, stays out of the way of training, but also does a great job of coaching the coaches.

Bill has to be at least a little responsible for a real golden era in USA wrestling. Certainly the RTC system also contributes but someone has to keep those coaches from just constant bickering and keeping them focused on the broader vision.

He seems like a great dude. Also: Cary pinned him. 😂

That's actually thanks to Zeke. He REALLY put guys in their place and got all the coaches to really believe in "Team" USA.

USA women have won all their matches this morning except Morgan Turner. Her finger ended up in the Russian girl’s eye and Morgan lost by disqualification.

3:44 Dymond into quarters by tech falling the jacked Nigerian wrestle.

4:10. Kayla pinned by her Japanese opponent. Good chance for bronze unless the heavy wrap on her arm is from a troublesome injury.

4:47 Helen has lost 4-2 to her Japanese opponent. Also good chance for bronze.

5:15 Dymond lost in the last seconds 5-4. No USA women in the semis. 6-4 with the nothing to lose challenge.

8:05 Dymond to repechage.

8:23 Helen to repechage.

Kayla eliminated when her Japanese opponent was pinned in the quarterfinal.

Not a great start Team USA.

Turner absolutely deserved to be disqualified. Just dumb wrestling decision. I don't think she did it with malice, but man, not even an open hand, just a straight eye poke.

From some of the social media out there, it sounds like she does this ALOT.

If so, I’ve got a huge problem with that. I dealt with a torn cornea for about 18 months - trying to solve it without surgery until that was the only solution. The pain was excruciating and debilitating at times - way worse than when I tore up my knee or dislocated stuff. An eye poke is a great way to suffer cornea damage. It she kept trying that **** with me, I slap her so hard her eardrum would burst.

She should absolutely be hit with some type of sanction. She didn't even try to hide it.

I didn’t realize it was this bad! In the Reddit comments it says her opponent is having emergency corneal surgery. Turner probably deserves more punishment than just being DQ’d. It looks like she is doing it to injure. Awful look from one of the best youngsters in the US
Shes young wrestling up and obviously did something horrible in the heat of the moment. She also fish hooked a girl at u23. My opinion she's just immature not every young athlete is ready for the SR level . She's been around forever and no one has said she's dirty until now. I will wait and she how she reacts in the future before I start calling her a dirty wrestler

She’s super young and hopefully this is a wake up call. My biggest issue is that it is 100% on purpose. Not done in the handfight or while trying to get a collar tie. She’s an incredible talent but this was egregious. I’m hoping she learns from it, never does it again, and comes back better than ever

My wife kept submitting one of our Muay Thai coaches (who is a professional MMA fighter, but not super high level at BJJ) and she was getting visibly angry. Wife got her in another triangle and coach appeared to purposely poke my wife's eye with her free hand in attempt to get out of it. She immediately felt horrible (they are really close friends), just an ultra competitive fighter letting her feels get the best of her. Luckily no surgery needed, but a few weeks of tetracaine, antibiotics, steroids, and an eye patch. Corneal abrasions are no joke.

I have seen many foreigners eye gouge over the years it happens. It's combat sports things happen.

ehhhh... that was pretty egregious.

I definitely think you're right about her maturity. Hopefully she isn't a "dirty" wrestler and this was just emotions getting to her. But there should definitely be some sort of sanction/suspension.

Of course it happens and quite often in combat sports but that’s not this. She did it on purpose with what seems like an intent to injure. And if foreigners have actually done the same thing it’s not a reason to excuse Turner. It shouldn’t be done period by anyone. I actually agree with you on most things but on this I’m not sure how you are defending her actions

Intentional eye poked aren't new. I have never seen anyone suspended for it. I don't think she was thinking I'm gonna damage her cornea. It happens in the heat of the moment. I'm not defending her actions I'm just saying people are calling her a dirty wrestler and I'm not ready to do that yet myself since she's wrestles forever and this happened once
