Did he express interest in coaching in America, especially at Kentucky ?? Just curious ... ???I met him a couple of years ago in Africa. Very good dude.
Never asked. We were doing a documentary on NBA Africa.Did he express interest in coaching in America, especially at Kentucky ?? Just curious ... ???
He is a defensive guy so hate to burst your pope hate bubble. Was a beast on d at UCLA in his days.Kinda wish he hired a defensive-minded coach. He really needs someone to help with his most obvious weakness.
That’s good if true.He is a defensive guy so hate to burst your pope hate bubble. Was a beast on d at UCLA in his days.
Also ties to Uvwo and Cheriff apparently. Doubt we get Uvwo but Cheriff would be a good backup plan. He played under Ben Howland at UCLA.That’s good if true.
So he could coach them to offensive rebound their missed layups??Hope it works out but NGL I was really hoping for Jared Prickett to get the spot.
Guess background info isn’t important on an assistant. All the Aboya experts coming forward on this board to tell us whether this is a good hire.![]()
Actually Mo is to help with US guys.i guess this is pope waving the white flag on trying to recruit elite US players and will focus on international guys who are probably more receptive to his shtick.
has that actually happened yet...Actually Mo is to help with US guys.
Let him unpack his bags. This is his first class he’s been around.has that actually happened yet...
Adding info about a coach isn’t allowed to some on here. Here's the book on him, according to wikipedia ... his coaching career not yet updated to reflect his joining the staff at UK:

Where did you see this hiring date ?? I have researched and couldn't find anything to support that date.. Everything I've seen says his hiring was 10/10/26.he was hired on april 13th....exactly 180 days or 6 months. must have a lot of bags....
You know the 27 class is the first one he is recruiting really right? He helped lock up Alex Wilkins btw and Hampton. Also brought our backup PG with him that is going to be very very good.he was hired on april 13th....exactly 180 days or 6 months. must have a lot of bags....
I am encouraged and hopeful about his hiring:You know the 27 class is the first one he is recruiting really right? He helped lock up Alex Wilkins btw and Hampton. Also brought our backup PG with him that is going to be very very good.
thats it? a 3 star PG, a guy from furman and another guy who dropped 20+ spots. talk about moving the goalposts. standards keep getting less and less. You know the 27 class is the first one he is recruiting really right? He helped lock up Alex Wilkins btw and Hampton. Also brought our backup PG with him that is going to be very very good.
Guess you missed the part where I said 27 is the first class he has had a chance of recruiting. Took Wilkins from your precious Nate oats.thats it? a 3 star PG, a guy from furman and another guy who dropped 20+ spots. talk about moving the goalposts. standards keep getting less and less.
You want DC to be generous regarding UK basketball? Come now.Let him unpack his bags. This is his first class he’s been around.
Oh I know he’s a troll and lost most the time. You want DC to be generous regarding UK basketball? Come now.
Recent visit and this hire seems to suggest immediate influence.I am encouraged and hopeful about his hiring:
"On paper, this looks like a significant hire for Pope as he looks to take high school and international recruiting to the next level for Kentucky Basketball."

I’d take Cheriff if this gets it done. Wouldn’t expect kamagate but that’s another huge connection. He’s a monster.Recent visit and this hire seems to suggest immediate influence.
If that's the case we should bring in that Reese chick from the WNBA. Nobody bricks more layups than her.So he could coach them to offensive rebound their missed layups??
To be fair, none of this really matters if we suck this year. Pope is gone with another poor performant year. If this new assistant coach can stave off our weaknesses on defense, then that might be helpful. If not, it’ll be a short stay.I am encouraged and hopeful about his hiring:

Sans Mark FoxI actually like the staff Pope has put together.
Either that or restart the Darnell Dodson Experiment.Hope it works out but NGL I was really hoping for Jared Prickett to get the spot.
Uvwo just shut his recruitment down after our pitch so that’s a good sign. No more visits as suspected. Also ties to Uvwo and Cheriff apparently. Doubt we get Uvwo but Cheriff would be a good backup plan. He played under Ben Howland at UCLA.
There are many great international players now. It’s good to have a staff with some connections on it.I am encouraged and hopeful about his hiring:
