B1G Media Day. Replacing Stirtz w/ PG by Committee. Howie has made biggest jump in offseason. McKeever is "all of 7-foot-3 without shoes."

Good for Ben, totally agree. I repect his position and appreciate him more. Makes you wonder why some high school kids would go to a school like Illinois whefe they have a history of bringing in a lot of portal players.
I also appreciated this answer and his answer on going after top recruits even if they miss. The objective is to be number 1.

Underwood is strategic in his recruiting with a couple of top 50 HS kids mixed with vet euro recruits.
But I suspect Underwood is going to continue with euro portal guys going forward with the tight connection his asst coach has in europe.

TJ took a different stance welcoming back lipsey.

Taking back your top player is way different than bringing in someone nobody knows

Ben passed on Banks, our 2nd best player.
Maybe TJ had no one at pg all off-season working to secure a starting spot?
Otherwise, Ben's point is valid...TJ squashed someone's dream of playing pg at ISU next year.

I know, it's all about winning, not integrity.

Well said. I said exactly the same thing about bringing Graves back on the football team in the fall and many disagreed. These guys have put in the work (some for three years) and its their turn now. Bringing back a player after winter workouts, spring practice, summer work , and the beginning of fall, and placing him in front of the guys in the program, is wrong, and i'm glad that Ben and I think Kirk would agree with that.

I like what Ben had to say about Coon. Dunking a lot. Aggression. Rebounds. Players holding one another accountable goes a long way to not only build success, but sustain that success as well. I liked what he said about developing the culture of having the right attitudes toward training, such as the weight room, shots, etc. and translating those attitudes toward serving each other and the community. And finally, in general, about building that chemistry that these young guys need in order to be competitive, and to play for each other.
