Massey has ESL as 1, MC 2, Loyola 3, LWE 4 and Rice 5. MaxPreps Loyola 1, MC 5I know its a computer etc... still crazy lol
BR is at 3 ahead of ESL on maxpreps.Massey has ESL as 1, MC 2, Loyola 3, LWE 4 and Rice 5. MaxPreps Loyola 1, MC 5
The good thing about that is the question as to who is better could be decided on the field in the 7A playoffs. As an objective observer, the possible playoff matchup of ESL/BR got a whole lot more interesting after Rice’s win over MC.BR is at 3 ahead of ESL on maxpreps.
On this board yes, considering most posters are fans of the Blue.I'm not sure I understand your question, but the CCL Blue is generally accepted to contain three of the top five teams in the state, so it makes sense that it's a significant ranking factor.
I don't think it's fair to chalk it up to a popularity contest. Teams currently in the Blue have won the past four championships in both 7A and 8A.On this board yes, considering most posters are fans of the Blue.
There are 8 classes.I don't think it's fair to chalk it up to a popularity contest. Teams currently in the Blue have won the past four championships in both 7A and 8A.
OK, but theoretically, classes 7 and 8 are the two best classes. There are 8 classes.
Theres people here that dont buy that. Some think they get better as they get smaller.OK, but theoretically, classes 7 and 8 are the two best classes.
If you are suggesting that LA, BR and MC do not belong in the top 5, then which ones do not belong and where would you place them?On this board yes, considering most posters are fans of the Blue.
The question isn't if they belong in the top 5 or 10. They are DEFINITELY not 1,2 and 3! That is the point of the post. One could be considered top three but on the field results suggest the other two can not.If you are suggesting that LA, BR and MC do not belong in the top 5, then which ones do not belong and where would you place them?
You have continued to avoid my question. Do you believe Brother Rice is closer to deserving a #1 seed in the 7a playoffs or a #14 seed? And when the algorithm assumes they are the best, everything gets based on them. So in the top 5 it all becomes incestuous as if there couldnt be a team between them. And subsequent rankings end up being based on the faulty initial rankings. Then the conference gets a boost because they all play each other.
@jha618 this is why the algorithm is biased and doesn't work for seeding.
Same thing with people ranking/seeding.
This a football forum what else should we be discussingPeople care to much about rankings.
For a minute there, I thought you were referring to the SEC!And when the algorithm assumes they are the best, everything gets based on them. Who had LA ranked ahead of ESL in the final rankings in 2024?In 2024 ESL beat LA and ESL only lose was to IMG by 1 point. Until the final rankings for the year LA was ranked 1 in the state.
Not with 2 losses. You want a biased ranking to be the seeding. And youre only concerned with 1 seed and completely ignore all the rest of the teams. You dont care if they rank the #29 team "correctly".You have continued to avoid my question. Do you believe Brother Rice is closer to deserving a #1 seed in the 7a playoffs or a #14 seed?
Doesn't the current IHSA system also result in inaccurate rankings/seedings based on the faulty assumption that all wins are created equal?
Never said don’t discuss it, just that people care to much about them. This a football forum what else should we be discussing![]()

On a forum .. about football... what should people care more about?Never said don’t discuss it, just that people care to much about them.
Lol nice try. I see with all those words you still managed to avoid answering my question for about the 4th time now. I guess its alot easier for you to come up with a straw man argument than actually answer fairly basic questions. Not with 2 losses. You want a biased ranking to be the seeding. The current system is always 100% correct unless they have to go to a coin flip tie breaker. And also the subjective N/S dividing line may cause some incorrectness.
I answered your question. The current system seeds them correctly. Your proposed system seeds them incorrectly.Lol nice try. The games, X's and O's, schedules, kids performances, etc. It's high school football the rankings literally mean nothing. The goal is to win a state title, what a schools ranking is has zero bearing on that.On a forum .. about football... what should people care more about?
So why do them? Other than for discussionsThe games, X's and O's, schedules, kids performances, etc. It's high school football the rankings literally mean nothing. The goal is to win a state title, what a schools ranking is has zero bearing on that.
1. No, you didnt answer my question regarding BR.I answered your question. The current system seeds them correctly. Your proposed system seeds them incorrectly.
Your question has no answer except that the current system seeds them accurately. Not sure why this is difficult for you to understand other than you dont understand football. Where did you have Fenwick seeded last year with your system?1. No, you didnt answer my question regarding BR.
2. You can't just make up your own definition of correctly
3. I haven't proposed any system.
Ill let you continue arguing with yourself though because you clearly are having a difficult time reading or comprehending what im saying.
Lol ok champ. You got it.Your question has no answer except that the current system seeds them accurately. Not sure why this is difficult for you to understand other than you dont understand football. Where did you have Fenwick seeded last year with your system?
Where did you have Fenwick seeded, since you know where everyone should be seeded?Lol ok champ. You got it.
Let it go my man. Let it go.Where did you have Fenwick seeded, since you know where everyone should be seeded?
Wow you're too emotional ma'amWhere did you have Fenwick seeded, since you know where everyone should be seeded?
No emotions here junior. Just trying to get some information from son.Wow you're too emotional ma'am
Hes got a 1000 questions for everyone else but wont answer them himselfWow you're too emotional ma'am
It's still all a matter of opinion regardless of on the field results. The question isn't if they belong in the top 5 or 10. They are DEFINITELY not 1,2 and 3! That is the point of the post. One could be considered top three but on the field results suggest the other two can not.
Your questions have been answered. You just dont like the answer. Then you saw that your "teams should be seeded based on how I like them" system doesnt work, then ducked out.Hes got a 1000 questions for everyone else but wont answer them himself
