If you are suggesting that LA, BR and MC do not belong in the top 5, then which ones do not belong and where would you place them?
The question isn't if they belong in the top 5 or 10. They are DEFINITELY not 1,2 and 3! That is the point of the post. One could be considered top three but on the field results suggest the other two can not.

Without seeing all the teams, its impossible for me to determine if MC and BR with 2 losses are better than ALL other teams in the state besides the teams that beat them.
I've seen Huntly so I can say both are better than them but that is where the bucks stop for me.

Need I remind you that prior to season, there was no question by some that MC would beat ESL and BR would clock LWE. Neither happened which suggest that LA, BR and MC are NOT the best three teams in the state. Top 10 yes, top 5 debatable. Top 3 ABSOLUTELY not at this point.

All that being said, trophies matter the most so there is a LOT of football left to be played.

And when the algorithm assumes they are the best, everything gets based on them. So in the top 5 it all becomes incestuous as if there couldnt be a team between them. And subsequent rankings end up being based on the faulty initial rankings. Then the conference gets a boost because they all play each other.

@jha618 this is why the algorithm is biased and doesn't work for seeding.

Same thing with people ranking/seeding.

You have continued to avoid my question. Do you believe Brother Rice is closer to deserving a #1 seed in the 7a playoffs or a #14 seed?

Doesn't the current IHSA system also result in inaccurate rankings/seedings based on the faulty assumption that all wins are created equal?

In 2024 ESL beat LA and ESL only lose was to IMG by 1 point. Until the final rankings for the year LA was ranked 1 in the state.

Not with 2 losses. You want a biased ranking to be the seeding. And youre only concerned with 1 seed and completely ignore all the rest of the teams. You dont care if they rank the #29 team "correctly".

The current system is always 100% correct unless they have to go to a coin flip tie breaker. And also the subjective N/S dividing line may cause some incorrectness.

Lol nice try. I see with all those words you still managed to avoid answering my question for about the 4th time now. I guess its alot easier for you to come up with a straw man argument than actually answer fairly basic questions.

I answered your question. The current system seeds them correctly. Your proposed system seeds them incorrectly.

On a forum .. about football... what should people care more about?
The games, X's and O's, schedules, kids performances, etc. It's high school football the rankings literally mean nothing. The goal is to win a state title, what a schools ranking is has zero bearing on that.

1. No, you didnt answer my question regarding BR.
2. You can't just make up your own definition of correctly
3. I haven't proposed any system.

Ill let you continue arguing with yourself though because you clearly are having a difficult time reading or comprehending what im saying.

Your question has no answer except that the current system seeds them accurately. Not sure why this is difficult for you to understand other than you dont understand football. Where did you have Fenwick seeded last year with your system?

It's still all a matter of opinion regardless of on the field results.

What if someone has the opinion after watching BR and LWE play that BR would beat LWE 9 times out of 10? I'm not saying I have that opinion, but what if I did? Do I rank BR ahead of LWE based on that? Or do I rank LWE ahead of BR because of that one single game?

Hes got a 1000 questions for everyone else but wont answer them himself
Your questions have been answered. You just dont like the answer. Then you saw that your "teams should be seeded based on how I like them" system doesnt work, then ducked out.
