This is all such crap. Sure, we're a laughingstock again right now, but over the last 5 years, are we that much worse than anyone else in the bottom half of this conference? These are the combined records by program for the bottom-8 in this conference this decade:
18. UCLA: 9-16 (6-12)*
17. Purdue: 27-43 (17-35)
16. Nebraska: 30-41 (19-36)
15. Rutgers: 31-42 (15-39)
14. Northwestern: 31-41 (19-33)
13, Michigan St: 32-37 (15-35)
12. Maryland: 34-35 (15-35)
11. Wisconsin: 36-35 (23-28)
As Judge Smails famously said "the world needs ditch diggers too." While it sucks that we're a B1G ditch digger, the conference doesn't just kick bad teams out. RU being booted from the B1G is the dumbest narrative running.
Now if you want to talk about being left out when these conferences consolidate further, that's a different (and very real) conversation.
