This is all such crap. Sure, we're a laughingstock again right now, but over the last 5 years, are we that much worse than anyone else in the bottom half of this conference? These are the combined records by program for the bottom-8 in this conference this decade:

18. UCLA: 9-16 (6-12)*
17. Purdue: 27-43 (17-35)
16. Nebraska: 30-41 (19-36)
15. Rutgers: 31-42 (15-39)
14. Northwestern: 31-41 (19-33)
13, Michigan St: 32-37 (15-35)
12. Maryland: 34-35 (15-35)
11. Wisconsin: 36-35 (23-28)

As Judge Smails famously said "the world needs ditch diggers too." While it sucks that we're a B1G ditch digger, the conference doesn't just kick bad teams out. RU being booted from the B1G is the dumbest narrative running.

Now if you want to talk about being left out when these conferences consolidate further, that's a different (and very real) conversation.

yup but that was a different time. I have said many times, the look back is 5 and then forward. It's what we deliver on a go forward basis

And Northwestern was 4-8 in 2006. Rutgers was 11-2. We must always remember 2006 before making hasty decisions! ;)

Which teams in that losers list fired the HC ? Or rather, to keep the list shorter, which teams did not fire their losing coaches ?

Graduated 1986. Season tix for FB, MBB all years since, WBB some years, and more donations than I care to count, but let's call it low 6 figures over that time period which I gave with pride and hope.

Great seats. 50 yard line row 18 FB, 100 level mid court BB for 80% of that time.

I'm done. I'll just buy a bigger nicer tv and watch from home. It's just not gonna happen in my lifetime.

Excluding interim HCs, here's the list of all HCs and their records in that same time frame:
  • UCLA - Deshaun Foster: 5-10 (3-6) / Bob Chesney: 1-0 (0-0)
  • Purdue - Jeff Brohm: 19-13 (14-10) / Ryan Walters: 5-19 (3-15) / Barry Odom: 3-10 (0-9)
  • Nebraska - Scott Frost: 7-16 (4-14) / Matt Rhule 20-19 (10-17)
  • Rutgers - Greg Schiano: 31-42 (15-39)
  • Northwestern - Pat Fitzgerald: 11-22 (8-17) / David Braun: 20-19 (11-16)
  • Michigan St - Mel Tucker: 20-14 (12-13) / Jonathan Smith: 9-17 (4-14) / Pat Fitzgerald: 1-0 (0-0)
  • Maryland - Mike Locksley: 35-40 (16-40)
  • Wisconsin - Paul Chryst: 15-10 (9-8) / Luke Fickell: 17-21 (10-17)
RU and Maryland are the 2 not to make a coaching change in that time.

Michigan State and Northwestern fired their coaches for off the field stuff. Purdue lost Brohm to Louisville. Michigan St and Purdue then fired their losing HCs after 2 years.

UCLA, Nebraska and Wisconsin outright fired their losing coaches, though Chryst was 67-26 (43-18).

LOL, you must not know me. I knew the answer and made the point that most losing teams fire their coaches. this HC is a perennial loser in conference games and now adds UMass to his loser ledger.

I know what you were getting at. I have been a GS-guy, but he’s not above the program. Frankly, I couldn’t care less who coaches this program, so long as it wins. If Chris Ash came back and won 9 games, I’d take back everything I said about him. Green juice and Migos concerts for everyone!
