I didn't tgink the SEC would go so far as ton put out a statement against bringing back NFL players, but they did.

Im eager to see where the line is between talk and action. Because Lane is playing those guys in a couple weeks.

Yeah, I was surprised b/c the SEC first just had a statement saying they were opposed to the notion of former NFL players returning to college. Looked like it would just be empty words. Then they released the statement saying it wouldn't be allowed.

It could get ugly if Lane proceeds and then Sankey hands down punishment and Lane sues etc.

SEC joined B1G shortly after B1G 10 conference made their announcement.
SEC went further banning players from NBA and WNBA.

Now MBB teams have been bringing players from the European Leagues for a while. I'm curious what if any rulings may address this topic.

I think he wants to make the idea that NCAA football is the NFL minor leagues official.

May need to work something out with these 2022 kids given the timing of the 5 for 5 rule coming out, but the SEC needs to keep their directive in place. Anybody after 2022 gets 5 for 5. Also, you forfeit the remaining years of the 5 if you declare for a professional draft and don't withdraw by a set date. Lawyers for the NCAA and the conferences need to be working more on the front end (Drafting rules) instead of on the back end (Fighting Litigation).

I seriously doubt it would go this far, but what if Kiffin really pushes the boundaries on this issue.

I suppose the best thing that could happen would be for Kiffin to persist, play these players, have them later found to be ineligible and cost LSU a bunch of games.

The crazy thing is, none of the players in question tip the scales for LSU. None of them would likely even be starters. But Kiffin's ego is pushing him.

Only can only hope his pride will go before his destruction.

Which begs the question. Even if he brought in these players today, just how soon could they learn a new playbook, practise, and actually be be effective. 2, 4, 6 weeks ?
IMHO it would just not be worth all the effort and distractions. But Hey, what do I know ?

Correct. Most pundits are likewise saying the same thing. The payoff for Kiffin doesn't seem to be worth the effort or the cost having the entire league aligned against your program.

I think it's a combination of his ego and him trying to create a narrative that folks are out to get LSU. He painted himself as the victim when left Ole Miss and he's doing it again.

Maybe LSU will beat Clemson by a point or two and then go 0-3, including losses to La Tech and McNeese to kill a couple of birds with one stone.

Al Davis in 2008 on Lane Kiffin

"I don't think it was any one thing," Davis said. "It was a cumulative thing. I think the pattern just disturbed me."

That would be wonderful, but it won't happen.

It would be fantastic if Kiffin's dirtbagginess (word invented!) finally caught up to him for real.
@18IsTheMan, I agree, I don't see anything happening to Kiffin either. While I think he is an awful person, he is a revenue maker for college football as he brings attention. I for one hope he stinks at LSU!
