“The No. 1 item on the job description for my job today is ability to generate revenue,” Dannen said. “I will say I do almost feel like we spend more time apologizing for doing the job that athletics requires in 2026.

“If we don’t do our job, our future is severely limited. No one’s doing this because they like having people upset and calling and yelling and threatening. That’s not the way this is done.

“We’re doing it to put the University of Nebraska athletic program in a better position for success. Today the economic piece is much more relevant and prevalent than at any time in our past.

“But let’s not forget. We had suites before anyone else. We were finding ways to generate revenue before anybody else did. Which is why we don’t have debt. In some ways, we went 25 years and rested on that.

“Right now it’s time to turn it up. We didn’t do it because we didn’t have to. Today we have to. There’s a fine line. Depending on where you stand on that line, we either push across it or we don’t push far enough.”

And look at the unneeded faculty upgrades. Can't be asking donors to shell out millions for rosters and buildings. Campaigns need to focus on a main major objective and we know where that main objective has been. Not to make the team better!!!

also think it's funny timing of these write ups. Already prepping us for an excuse this season

Fire him now. Football is the revenue maker, football must win to maximize revenue. That is it. Squeezing fans instead of putting a good product on the field is insane. This is what you get by hiring a journalism major to run a half billion a year business.

For those of us peasants, it has to be tangible and proven. If we give you the dollar, we want the stale candy bar that tastes like the cardboard box it was sitting in for two years before it was sold. Us poors will tell you, "Win first, then I give you money. Even though we are poor, we are not clueless. We know that the next two years of 7-5 isn't proving anything.
Now lets shift from hypotheticals to real talk. Makes zero sense for a teacher with 25 years in to donate $500 from an 80K a year salary to an ath. dept. who will flip it to a 20 year old kid to cover their 150K salary. Makes no sense to donate 10K a year out of a teacher's savings/inheritance to join Nebraska Leadership Society. Sure, you get to go to Meet and Greets, eat baked alaska, prime rib, smoke rolled cigars, bid on auctions, etc. But that gets you nowhere close to your 10K donation, and its not supposed to.

Value for money spent does not exist for prospective donors in the demographic majority of the fans.

Love the Huskers. Won't do what doesn't make sense.

Dannen and Rhule seriously need to shut up and win.

It's August, the AD should say how we should demand and expect a better product on the field this year. Do that and the money flows. But no, this clown goes for the money FIRST and ignores the lousy product and season-ending collapses.

This is what poor leaders do. They blame lack of money and point no thumbs. They treat us like idiots - as if we cannot see that we are losing to teams with less money.

Just do enough to pay for the other sports that are doing as good as ever. Volleyball is the gold standard. Basketball hotter than ever as well

With Dannen and the other Higher Ups way of thinking about how to make up revenue, when the sellout streak ends they'll raise ticket prices on the people that do attend the games to make up for the lost revenue of the sellout ending.

He complained about that in the article also, he said we're not going to be maximizing memorial stadium revenue after the reseat because I'm letting you peasants have 25% of the seats with no donation requirement, of course it's all like the upper 10 rows around the stadium.

His big bosses, there board members have ties to companies that profit at facility upgrades. The faculties are fine. They need to stop acted like it's what's important to fans and recruits. Winning is what's important. We aren't as dumb as they think we are

Rhule's 2-year extension was worth $25 million. I wonder if they took a fan poll, what percentage of boosters/fans would vote to give that $25 million to NIL instead of Rhule? (Assuming it could be donated to NIL for discussion sake).

Yet the moron who gave the MILLIONS extra to Rhule turns around and asks us to pony up more money. They truly think we are the dumb ones here.

Maybe we should start by beating teams like Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota who don’t spend more on NIL than we do. Who will give $$millions so we can “compete” with the big dogs when Rhule has proven he can’t beat the mid tier teams?
Nebraska football won’t be able to beat the big dogs, compete for titles, and bring in big bucks until we start winning. Is Rhule the guy? I hope so but I don’t think so. This is a big year. We need to go 9-3 this year. That will be a breakout season. 8-4 means we beat one of the big boys.

Just as well be like northwestern and build a new much smaller stadium. For real demolish south stadium then put $ into modernization of what’s left.

The world is being run by talentless hacks whose only quality is the psychopathy that lets them believe that "revenue" is the holy grail. These people really view the experiences of human beings as completely irrelevant in the face of "revenue". Why? Shouldn't the experience of husker fans be of utmost importance to a person being paid by husker fans? Why would he lock in a bad coach to a 100 million dollar 95% guaranteed contract if the future was so important? Can anybody remember when providing a stadium full fans, and a locker room full of players a winning and excellent experience meant something?
