I'll be clear about this, advanced metrics are certainly utilized, but as I have shown you about scout grades for Graves didn't hav much to do with his metrics, and much more to do with physical constraints. Someone like Leonard Moore would be a great reference here.Ok, thanks Bill Polian
Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades and advanced data are officially subscribed to and utilized by a vast majority of NFL front offices for pro scouting, free agency, and draft preparation. Teams use PFF's college data—including PFF Player Grades—to evaluate player performance on a snap-by-snap basis, track advanced metrics like Wins Above Average (WAA), and supplement their internal scouting boards.
Quit while your behind lol.So pff grades have no influence whatsoever on where a player gets drafted ? Lol
No you cherry picked his pff grade, he obviously had a lot of players ranked ahead of him and could improve his draft slot.I'll be clear about this, advanced metrics are certainly utilized, but as I have shown you about scout grades for Graves didn't hav much to do with his metrics, and much more to do with physical constraints. I never made that claim, I stated "PFF grades do not equate to draft slots, where do you get this from?" I am legit getting bored of the idiocracy and steam rolling this non-sense. I cherry picked his pass defense, which is correct. With that said, he would be a great contributor to this team, had this happened 6 months ago, we are weeks away from the season, the roster needs cut, NIL money isn't there, and Kirk wouldn't be for it. I will finalize this by saying, that there is zero chance he would work his way into the top 4 rounds of this next draft given the depth at the position. Now, go ahead and follow that up with whatever non-sense you want to, I won't be responding any more.No you cherry picked his pff grade, he obviously had a lot of players ranked ahead of him and could improve his draft slot.
You then claimed nfl teams don’t use pff grades in scouting which is absurd. You then changed the subject to KF wouldn’t go for it anyway.
Fact is replacing Luke Gaffney with Graves could be the difference in going 7-5 and having a shot at the playoffs. it makes sense for Graves and Iowa for him to come back. Graves got slotted with a team deep at d line and he will be relegated to the practice squad. Hes got nothing to,lose and everything to gain.
Sounds good , your arguments make no sense for graves or Iowa. i Agree it probably won’t happen, but 16 other players and programs are doing this. I have no idea why anyone would be against Graves returning.I never made that claim, I stated "PFF grades do not equate to draft slots, where do you get this from?" With the WR leaving Iowa has a roster spot and You think Kirk would not improve an area of the Team that at best is unproven with a Guy who has 26 starts and played in 52 career games? That is gross incompetence not to bring Him back if He wants to and it is legalI honestly don't think Kirk would do that.
Would like to see any of the 3 return, but it probably won't happen. Probably won't is being optomistic.https://apnews.com/article/ncaa-lawsuit-nfl-players-return-ed1a06804ffb3fdb5d87ecd0a5aef526

I’m pretty sure they will all make the roster or practice squads of their respective NFL teams. But if any of them don’t, Iowa has an open spot because of Terrence Smith enrolling at Iowa Western. It would seem dumb not to bring them back imo.Would like to see any of the 3 return, but it probably won't happen. Probably won't is being optomistic.
They also don't have any open roster spots, they need to get down to 105 from 111.I’m pretty sure they will all make the roster or practice squads of their respective NFL teams. I could see that if he had to cut someone to bring Graves back, but they have a scholarship spot open due to Terrence Smith enrolling at Iowa Western.I honestly don't think Kirk would do that.
I stand corrected, that bill is about as clear as mudI could see that if he had to cut someone to bring Graves back, but they have a scholarship spot open due to Terrence Smith enrolling at Iowa Western.
Also, Iowa can be over that 105 player limit:
Grandfathered "Designated Student-Athletes": To prevent active players from being abruptly cut when the rule passed, the NCAA Board of Directors adopted a grandfather clause. Any player who was already on a roster—or promised a spot—prior to April 2025 does not count against the 105-man limit for the remainder of their college eligibility.
Yes, sure. This is the only way this rule will be used...............................Kid leaves college, still has eligibility, takes a shot at the pros, doesn't make it. Not sure why this is a problem if he goes back to college?
Shonn Greene, come back! We need you!!!https://apnews.com/article/ncaa-lawsuit-nfl-players-return-ed1a06804ffb3fdb5d87ecd0a5aef526

X is definitely making an NFL roster based on his fall camp. Be it with the Chiefs or another team, I think the Bears will be looking for a SS as well.Shonn Greene, come back! We need you!!!
If this holds players at the top of the draft may decide they didn’t like who drafted them, and go back.Yes, sure. This is the only way this rule will be used...............................
This case specifically is because they switched to 5 for 5 this offseason. They elected not to extend that to last years players, so the argument is that this is unfair. The 3 players I listed played as true freshman, and never had a 5th year where they redshirted, so they’re losing a year.I don't really understand this ruling.
The NCAA is a private organization and makes rules. Some rules may be bad or discriminatory, but I don't think determining eligibility is either one of those.
So, the NCAA says you can't come back. A court overrules them. Why?
The athletes were given a choice - stay or go. They decided to go. It didn't work out. That's how things work in this world, right?
If I have a job with Company A, and I decide to accept an offer from Company B (both private companies). I find out I don't like Company B, or they reneged on a promise, or whatever. Can I have my old job back?
That doesn't answer the question about whether there would be a spot on the 105 man roster , nor if there is any substantial money available (two weeks from the season),as posters are saying he'd get paid more. I find it HIGHLY unlikely there is cash not yet allocated that would be more than what he'd get on his current pro contract. For the record, Hubert I believe played a decent amount of snaps last season, so I'd leave it up to coach Bell whether he's "earned" those snaps. No offense to Graves, or any poster on here arguing for improved draft stock, more money for him, etc. I couldn't give a **** if it helps him with the NFL or not. What I do know is the Hawks are 1 DT short of being a serious playoff contender and I think Graves could help vault us there. So yeah, we'd be stupid not to.
There's no one who's on the team who is going to be shorted a spot that they "earned" at this point. Hubert and Gaffney are walk ons. Fitzgibbons and Kennedy are still young.
Just another case of the courts and their over reach were seeing daily right now. They have no business being involved in this, and frankly neither does congressI don't really understand this ruling.

How do you know there's any "NIL" (which this is not), money left? We're two weeks from kickoff, and you don't think, (you certainly don't know), that maybe they've already allocated the available funds to those players on the roster?its a good think you aren’t his agent. why not take the nil money this year and improve his prospects for next year ?

In 2025 the Iowa AD produced $182.3 million in revenue. I think they will have a bit of cash to move around. How do you know there's any "NIL" (which this is not), money left? I don't. Nor am I speculating that he'd make way more coming back then he is on his current contract, as you are.How do you know there isn’t.
Which they generally spend pretty much all of every year which they are required to do.In 2025 the Iowa AD produced $182.3 million in revenue. I think they will have a bit of cash to move around.
look up current nil avg for DT in the Big then compare to his ravens salary. RidiculousI don't. Nor am I speculating that he'd make way more coming back then he is on his current contract, as you are.
Again, that has nothing to do with it. Neither of us has ANY idea 1) if Iowa has MORE money left to pay someone with the roster already being set, then his current contract. 2). If Graves would even have any interest in returning to Iowa, or would rather take his shot with them ravens OR possibly be picked up by another team later in the year.look up current nil avg for DT in the Big then compare to his ravens salary. Ridiculous
In your scenario, you can go back to your old job if Company A wants you back and hasn't filled your slot. It happens sometimes. Bobby Cremins went back to coach basketball at Georgia Tech after a few days at South Carolina.I don't really understand this ruling.

I think it was six. Regardless, Jess never left for the pros.Jess Settles got eight seasons to play, I don’t have a problem with it
He has a kid now so the chance to make a few 100 thousand in NIL etc is important to him.I don't think it's hyperbole to say we might be one high end DT away from being a serious playoff contender. If Graves doesn't make the Ravens, and wants to come back, you take him in a heartbeat....assuming there's available NIL $ to pay him.
On other Iowa message boards and Twitter, there is a lot of discussion of graves returning I’ve seen over the past couple of days.He has a kid now so the chance to make a few 100 thousand in NIL etc is important to him.
And dont forget Drew Ott who was majorly screwed over by the NCAA after he had two major injuries in one year with not being granted a med hardship extra year. At the same time and since Ott we have seen some football players have 7-8 years to play, who was the Utah QB and Miami player who are grandfathers while while playing D1 football!!!!On other Iowa message boards and Twitter, there is a lot of discussion of graves returning I’ve seen over the past couple of days.
Im not sure why a couple of people get all bent out of shape about this even being discussed ? After what was done to Noah Shannon, we are owed a year of play for a D lineman.
That player is Cameron Rising, who spent seven seasons as a college quarterback for the Utah Utes. [1, 2]On other Iowa message boards and Twitter, there is a lot of discussion of graves returning I’ve seen over the past couple of days.

It’s actually a one time thing grandfathering in 2022 players to get a 5 for 5. They selectively removed Noah Shannon in the most unfair way possible. This would be completely fair For Graves and Iowa. I think it depends on whether he makes the Ravens roster or not. It would be hilarious if he joins the team just in time for Iowa State. And dont forget Drew Ott who was majorly screwed over by the NCAA after he had two major injuries in one year with not being granted a med hardship extra year.
