Pope treats recruiting like it’s still Covid.
Why can’t he and staff get on an airplane and actually go meet Kohler in person?
I don’t personally know the answer but I’m sure there’s a good one. I feel we can be certain the issue isn’t Pope’s laziness here. It probably has something to do with player preference or some time of recruiting time budgeting— purely a guess.

Let’s get both Kohler and Mitchel
I think that could be classified as almost impossible:

- These players are not cheap and they don’t sign for Monopoly money.

- These players want minutes and roles. That’s an important consideration.

- There’s only 15 roster spots and that means we have only room for one.

Thought this was over last week and the resident experts were saying he used us to get more money from byu.

I guess if he sticks with byu that will be said again. Glad we still have a shot thoufh.

He went to Israel for a goof. It’s not like he’s agoraphobic.

Minutes and roles can’t be argued with. As for spots I don’t know the technicalities on rescinding a ride but if it’s at all possible, I can’t see either Zyon Hawthorne or Reece Potter being a hill we’d want to die on. As for money I don’t know where it comes from or is allowed to come from in this weird dystopian future we’re living. But I know for sure if I were a booster who had been ponying up big money only to come up short a decade plus and suddenly someone asked me about giving till it hurts once in exchange for basically a Duke/Golden Age of Calipari roster I’d at least want them to keep talking. And who knows? Just maybe with the chance of playing on a superteam like that roles and minutes becomes a different kind of conversation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don’t disagree. I’m just saying all of the factors make it extremely unlikely. You’d have a real logjam with Moreno, Mitchell, Momcilovic, Kohler all being obvious starters with only three starting frontcourt spots. No big deal, right? Someone can just come off the bench. I just don’t think players of that caliber are going to be willing to do that without it causing problems. You’d then be pushing Kam, McBride, N’Diaye etc further down the rotation and that’s likely to cause more issues. You only have 200 minutes to give out, and while you want a talented team, you also need a cohesive team.

As for the money, we have no idea what is available there like you said. But if you are a big booster, why would you be willing to pay heavy money for another player even though adding the 16th guy has diminishing returns due to adding Kohler or Mitchell with the 15th slot, potentially upsetting the entire locker room and having to pull a scholarship from another player and force them off the roster? I don’t see it as feasible.
