not sure what point you are trying to make, you take Gronowski every single time He’s available, was a great signing.
Kid was a winner. Still is. Great attitude, great teammate unbelievably tough. Smart athletic quarterback. You don’t think twice taking that kid.

It was unfortunate about his shoulder to start the season. But agree – you take him every time. “Damaged goods“ is the thought process that the coaches don’t take him.

McNamara was damaged goods, two busted knees. at One point when healthy very serviceable
Aside from this, McNamara was a poor culture fit. Not sure if the Iowa staff could have known this when we signed him, but some in the Michigan camp seemed to, and identifying guys who will be a good “fit” is something our staff prides themselves on. But they missed with Cade.

Main issue with Cade is he couldn’t accept he was physically washed. most athletes at that age couldn’t either. He was good enough when healthy at Michigan but his knees were so bad he couldn’t function as a p4 qb especially after further injury.

Domination by Heck today. Maybe we won’t see both after all…

Jesus. Those are Deacon Hill numbers. And this a glorified inter squad scrimmage, right?

Who can put lipstick on that pig?

Granted, Brown played sparingly last year, but I saw nothing at any time that made me the least optimistic that he could develop into a decent B1G Ten quarterback. I sure hope the highly touted freshman is starting to warm up in the bullpen. Good gravy.

Heck has nice touch on deep fade routes. He and DJV seem to have good chemistry. From what we saw, it seems Heck makes good decisions with the football. I mean, it’s nothing to get overly excited about, but by comparison to Brown, in a small sample size at least, it’s a night and day difference.

my main issue with Cade was he was an average QB before his injury and was over paid by Iowa because they were desperate.

Thats absurd. CM was offered by nd, bama, Georgia usc. He led Michigan to 12-2 and the playoffs and a #3 ranking. Hell yes he was good enough pre injury to play qb at Iowa.

The fact that Iowa snagged him in the portal fully knowing this, and then the media and university tried to sell it to us like it was the second coming of Jesus, tells you all you need to know about how tightly the university controls the narratives. Kirk will no more fix the QB dysfunctions than McCaffery was going to fix his defense. Kirk wants a game manager for QB not a baller stuffing the stat sheets. If that’s Hank he will get the nod.

Except Gronowski was a great fit. Orthos cleared CM and then he got reinjured. Sheet happens. No need to weave narratives.

How many QB’s has Kirk put in the NFL? You calling Kirk the QB whisperer?
Goal post moves, now it’s how many nfl qbs have you produced, last time I checked the Hawks are a college team.

Banks, Tate, Stanzi, Beathard, Stanley all were pretty good qbs under KF.

Mike Leach had a ton of highly productive college qbs in his career, none were nfl qbs other than Minshew. Stupid argument.

How many tight ends ,linebackers, offensive lineman, defensive lineman, running backs has KF put in the nfl ? A hell of a lot.

Kirk has already told everyone he's no QB expert. Unfortunately he promoted Brian to run the offense and then QB's, virtually ensuring what we all saw.

Those days are over with Lester running the offense and the QB room. There's no reason to believe that both aren't now in good hands or that Lester isn't being given the latitude by Kirk to decide who's going to be playing that position.

“It was a big weekend for the Iowa Hawkeyes at the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh. In total, seven Hawkeyes were selected.”

“Kirk Ferentz has now coached over 100 draft picks during his time leading the Hawkeyes. He said it is special to see his former players live out their childhood dreams.”

not too shabby, probably the best player development in the country.

I wonder if it was the same with O’Keefe? It doesn’t matter who the OC is brother. It’s Kirk ball control offense.

What’s your agenda??? I want to hear your argument Kirk is great at developing QB’s? Enlighten me. You ain’t got one.
things must be slow over on the Clemson board. First you move the goal posts, then you bring up juvenile straw man arguments. lol.

I’ve been a Hawk fan for 30 plus years. Who’s straw manning? You cannot stay on topic. All you do is defend the university and their decisions 24/7. Who has the agenda? That would be you my friend.
that off topic board getting shut down really has you in a tizzy. I’m sure you can start a thread on the Clemson board about socialist tax policy that will keep you engaged.

Also, don’t quit your day job to become a philosopher (because well….you are not good at debating)…

You’re confusing an uncomfortable question with a straw man. A straw man has a specific structure: you must identify the argument you actually made, show how I materially distorted it, and demonstrate that I attacked the distortion instead of your real position. You have done none of those things.

I asked you to state and defend your position on Kirk’s ability to develop quarterbacks. If I have your position wrong, correct it and tell us what you actually believe. If I have it right, answer the question and provide your evidence. Either response would move the discussion forward. Repeating “straw man” while refusing to clarify your argument does not.

The “moving the goalposts” accusation is equally empty unless you can name the original standard and the new standard I supposedly substituted. And the Clemson-board jab, “juvenile,” and “lol” are not counterarguments; they are a red herring and an appeal to ridicule designed to distract from the fact that you still have not answered.

A strawman is exaggerating another persons point to make it easier to defeat, sort of like where you just said “tell us why KF is a great developer of quarterbacks”, search my posting history, I never claimed that or posted that.

Moving the goal posts would be where I listed the solid qbs that have played under KF : Banks, Beathard, Tate, Stanzi, Stanley , Gronowski …..and then you post “how many nfl qbs has he produced?”

youre basically a troll and probably has multiple accounts, im done.

5 QB’s out of 27 years? That’s your definition…seriously? How many made it to the NFL…? You’re bailing because you don’t have an argument. Period. Guys, notice how I turn into a troll when this guy loses. Usually someone points out in you what they actually are. Why don’t you name my “other” accounts. Sounds like an assumption with ZERO evidence, just like your other claims…

Iowa was desperate and Cade took advantage of it. Coming off injury and Iowa offense being as bad as it was you got to wonder why he was basically one of the first qb dominos to fall in the portal and committed so fast to Iowa. Tells me Iowa he knew was top offer $ wise with KF knowing he needed to do whatever he could to help BF and that I don’t think lot of P4 looking for qbs had Cade as first option especially at price Iowa paid.

Cade healthy with weapons at Michigan was pretty good. But injured Cade combined with Iowa’s lack of skill players was and ended up being a disaster in the making, especially year one with fredo as his OC.

opinions vary. his play at Mich didnt impress me. or the Mich coaches apparently. 15/6 and 184 ppg in 2021. he wasnt worth the bag Iowa paid, but maybe he was to BF.

He led Michigan to 12-2 in 2021, winning the big ten and making the playoffs, finished ranked #3. 2500 passing yards, 15/6, 64% completion %. He blew his knee out the third game of 2022.

maybe you’re just hard to impress.

Those are incredibly average stats, and the eye test confirmed he was average. That Michigan team was stacked though.

I mean, Stanzi, Ruddock, Beathard, and Stanley all had multiple years in the NFL. Vandenberg got a camp invite. There’s also Banks and Tate. They didn’t make the NFL but they were damn good. McCann and Chandler were decent for Iowa too. The only stinker from 2001 to 2019 was Christensen’s 1 year.

It was really pretty good until the 2020s. We didn’t really realize what we had until it was gone. I think we can expect at least decent QB play every year now that Brian is gone. Lester’s guys so far have been Sullivan and Gronowski, who had flaws but were capable QBs.
