Danny Kaelin should be the starter at QB.

Has looked better in all the practices and drills. We should not play a player just because they are getting more NIL money.

IDGAF who they are paying the money to. They damn well better play whoever gives the team the best chance to win.

Honestly I don't think Rhule has the luxury to play favorites. Its about now or never time.

I understand where the money is going and for that alone I think AC will have to play himself out of the starting lineup. But he WILL have to lose it.

That said I think they kept putting Simms out there when he looked like baby dog doo doo his first year so who knows lol.

You know this how? Not from what I've heard but then again unlike you obviously, I have not been at every practice and watched every drill. From what I've been told, DK is unfortunate a very distant 3rd. Was hoping he'd challenge but...

His resume includes the fact that he is a turnover machine. Which is why I doubt we do any better this year than 6-6 or 5-7.
I think he's gonna be somewhat similar to Tommy Armstrong. YOLO ball.

We're gonna be like, "What the hell are you doing???" to, "What a play!! I friggin love this guy!!"

Actually his turnovers were better last season. His TD to INT ration was close to where he needs to be. If he can cut his INTs by even 2-3 he’ll be fine. You’re going to get more chunk QB run plays and TDs from Coleandra than you would from Kaelin.

Watching DK at Virginia I doubt he's the starter unless significant improvement is made.
He looked about as good at Virginia as Mendoza looked at Cal. I realize UNLV is a different level of competition but I can't believe how willing people are to completely discount the fact that he has tons of experience.

Edit: I misread your post, I thought you were talking about Colandrea.

Thats the point most posters on here miss. He got OPOY for a reason, his stats have improved over time. There was a video by Matthew Downing that goes over everything about Colandrea and he puts it better than I can.

Here's the video in question.

I like Kaelin’s physical skillset. If we would need to go to him at some point I would actually be more comfortable with him than Lateef. That said, Coleandra’s run threat is a big deal.

He’s not playing for Dan Mullen anymore.

We also force fed Dowdell when EJ was clearly the better back. Matt Rhule is terrible at getting the best players on the field.

Why do you feel this way? What have you seen from him that you like better than TJ since HS?

I didn't see a lot of Danny in HS fwiw.

I honestly didn't have much of a problem with Dowdell getting reps. We needed a hammer in the backfield. Imo he wasn't as bad as people made it. For me it was the fascination they had with Rahmir. I never got it. A small straight line runner without much power or wiggle. THATS who Emmett should replace early.

... so here I am wondering how this is going to play out with AC. Downgrade in coaching, massive upgrade in schedule difficulty? Hopin for the best though, and we were lucky to land him at the time, as all other QB's worth a crap were off the board. If Danny balls out and wins the job that's fine by me too!! Just win baby.

I don't know if the first sentence is correct, but I agree wholeheartedly with the second sentence. Judging by the results we've had I am sure that has happened at least a few times.

What does that prove though? Dana complimenting Kaelin on his completion percentage is a nice thing to say. But we've all seen guys take sacks, pass up opportunities to throw down field and throw easy check downs.

"In the accuracy test, quarterbacks are given a variety of throws – a curl, comeback, a deep post, other routes – and a target to hit. Quarterbacks get bonus points for throwing the ball through a hole in the target, Kaelin said.
He said he won the competition on several deep post throws toward the end of his circuit.
“I hit the targets on those so that definitely helped give me the lead,” Kaelin said. “I think my accuracy is definitely one of my best attributes as a passer, so I was happy to put that on display and come out with the victory.”"

He's also been accurate, he won the Elite 11 accuracy portion his year.

I liked Danny and glad he came back. But those contests he was winning was when the bullets weren’t flying around him .
