QB Battle: Jeremy Hecklinski appears to have passed Hank Brown on the Depth Chart. QB was NOT a Transfer Portal Priority per KF on Dec 18

there was 2:05 on the clock as the pass is released and there are 2 blockers with inside leverage and 1 defender outside, with the catch which should have gotten the 1st down with an inside cut and use of the blockers the clock will stop for the 2 Min warning and Indiana was out of TOs , unless Stevens misses basically an XP Iowa wins that game
FFS, some of you guys are convinced we win the National Championship if Hank Brown had never been born.

@Franisdaman Where in My post did I in anyway advocate for anything but it was a huge unforced error, Great play call and crappy QB to run the play , That throw a 6th grade QB completes and it totally alters the rest of the Season for Iowa, Indiana and the Playoffs , I love the job Lester has done and am one of the advocates He should be the next HC .

I wasn't arguing. Just having a discussion. :)

A ton of space? Watch it again. If he catches the ball and turns #21 is right there to clean him up. It was far from a sure thing. Maybe? Sure. But not the guarantee some of you guys are convinced it was.

The only "guy's" opinion I care about is the opinion of the expert, Tim Lester.

What part of "it would have been a touchdown" do you not understand?

It wouldn’t be a message board if we didn’t have a bunch of Nancies thinking they know more than the coaches.

I never said anything about a Natty only Iowa and Indiana's Seasons and the Playoffs are much different with an Iowa win , But then again I am assuming some People have a reading comprehension level better than the Cro-Magnon .

It really is stunning.

Tim Lester designed the play. Tim Lester saw the play develop live, high above, from the press box. Tim Lester then reviewed all of the game film (film we fans don't have access to). Tim Lester then said in a press conference that, and I quote, "it was there. It would've been a touchdown."

But what does Tim Lester know? LOL

Honestly, this of just frickin dumb. People have eyes. Surely you're smart enough to know that Lester is stating opinion, not fact.

Not sure why you also haven't listened to what KF's told us over the years

He doesn't, but I bet he can get to 20 pages re-posting the same thing.

Well , if you and others weren't so stupid , I wouldn't have to repeat myself. For some reason , the truth does not sink in for some of you.

And as a reminder , Tim Lester said it would have been a touchdown

It was perhaps the biggest unforced error play in Iowa football History , it defintely was in Indiana's , Iowa beats Indiana if that is completed and Indiana's road to and thru the Playoffs is altered immensely . Not matter what everyone will always remember Brown crappin the bed on that play the same as everyone remembers Ernest Byner's fumble at the goal line against Denver , Byner never escaped the shadow of that play
or, he could be the Bill Buckner (1986 world series) of our team.

I'm not sure Kirk will choose Hank. If he does, after today, when this product is open for everyone to witness, then I may finally realize that he's terrible at deciding a QB1. Hopefully, Lester gets to make the decision.

Really, Kirk?

Kirk is smart, he's not going to pass judgement on Kid's Day, despite any great performance. He'll say the usual about being happy with development, needing to work on things, and that we have three weeks of practice to go. We won't get his answer at QB until game week.

It's so obvious Heck is the better option. Brown just doesn't have what it takes when the lights are shining.
Everybody claims not to read too much into one play. I’ve seen enough great athletes at all sorts of different sports both in person and on television to know, some guys got it and some guys don’t. Unfortunately, for the play against Indiana for Hank Brown that told me everything I need to know. Everything about what’s between the ears unfolded on that play. Rushed his throw, had terrible feet and just wasn’t ready.

IMO Kirk knows that Hecklinski is clearly better. However, he'll continue coach speak to the media saying it's close for a couple of reason 1) to not alert NIU as to who they may see as the QB 2) to keep the QB's pushing each other through camp 3) to keep Hank Brown fully invested and working hard in case his services are ever required this season

Behind closed doors there's just no way Kirk and Lester haven't had conversations that it has to be Heck as QB1

No doubt CJ had the “it“ factor when Kirk made the switch. But Jake was a pretty good quarterback. Good enough that Jim Harbaugh turned him into even a better quarterback.

That was a tough competition between those 2. They made the decision tough on Kirk and the final result was great for all parties.

Let's not forget CJB's dad had to call and threaten that he'd transfer if he wasn't starting in 2015...

Kirk is one of the best college football coaches ever, however, he is not great with QB’s. It’s a real blind spot for him. He gets so invested in a guy that he tends to play him regardless of the consequences. I understand the loyalty and admire it actually, and at the same time it’s his kryptonite.
