Everyone rightfully remembers the Nevills match to give Penn State the win, but Penn State loses that dual if Bo doesn't get that last second turn against Martin to get the major decision. If Bo had only won by decision, then Snyder would have only needed a win by decision to win the dual since Ohio State held criteria if the dual had ended in a tie. That was so clutch by Bo. He used the bow and arrow on Martin and got the second near fall swipe with less than a second to go in the match. But, had Martin wrestled hard through the end of the match, Bo most likely doesn't get that turn.

I thought that the commentators were wrong and that PSU actually held the criteria. Does anyone actually know? Thanks

We were ahead 19-15 before Heavy. Snyder had to get a major with at least a 13 point win (so close to a tech) to get criteria and win if it was 19-19.

Without Bo’s extra point, it would have been 18-15 going into heavy and a simple major by Snyder would have gotten them the win.

If Snyder only needs a major, I think we were cooked. Snyder knew he had to go nuts to try and get a tech or near tech and, hence, got burned a time or 2 getting desperate.

I remember Morgan McIntosh hitting Sammy Brooks with a NASTY arm spin one time. Brooks was wrestling up and paid for it.

I’d love to see Ono hit someone with that.
My favorite Morgan arm spin was all the way back at the 2011 USAW Junior Freestyle Nationals. Morgan jumped up to the 215 class (!) and hit a beautiful arm spin against a towering Adam Coon. Check it out along with the 2011 FloNationals final where Morgan took down Gabe Dean five times and was in on his legs another six times! Morgan was a beast in HS. It is really a shame that Penn State had 184 covered during Morgan's career. If he had been able to wrestle at 184, I think his NCAA career would have been even better than it was.

Oh yeah - that how I did it too in regard to classes. I used to go to class if I felt like it and not if I didn’t feel like it.

Nobody tell HR about "she":

---Your opponent, Spencer Lee, had just won a silver medal in the 57kg class at the Paris Olympics. How did you feel when the match was decided?

To be honest, I thought she was a much higher-ranked opponent. However, since she was the same person that Rei Higuchi had beaten in the Olympic final, I felt that I couldn't afford to lose either.

But seriously, that's a great interview with Ono. Insightful toward both the Japanese mentality and the PSU mentality. Well worth everyone's time to read.
Plus there are some real gems in that translation! It's the first time I don't mind reading "player" when "wrestler" is intended.

And thinking of Lorenzo as "the dojo" sparks great joy!

"On days when there is morning practice, only those who want to participate gather at the dojo. The coach is at the dojo, so you can find a partner to practice with and ask questions on the spot if you don't understand something."
