What's your expectation for Kamario?

“He has room to develop as a thrower in Jeff Lebby's offense, which has produced five 3,000-yard passers since 2019.”

Depressing line from an ESPN article because that’s 5 out of 7 years and we didn’t have a 3000 yard passer either of the last two years

Co-Pilot says:

Areas of concern

I would not call this an elite SEC offensive line yet.
The biggest questions are:
  1. Tackle play against top SEC pass rushers. Mississippi State will face defensive fronts such as Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas, and Ole Miss. Until the tackles consistently demonstrate they can handle those caliber edge rushers, there is still some uncertainty.
  2. Young depth. While the depth chart is deeper, several backups are still relatively young and unproven. [ourlads.com], [thetwodeep.com]
  3. Run-game dominance. The line looks capable of being solid, but it remains to be seen whether they can consistently move SEC defensive fronts off the ball.

My overall projection

If the starting five stays healthy:
2025: Below-average SEC offensive line
2026: Average to slightly above-average SEC offensive line
In practical terms, I think the line has a chance to move from roughly the bottom third of the SEC to the middle of the conference, which would be a substantial improvement and could have a bigger impact on Mississippi State's win total than any other position group on offense.
For Jeff Lebby's offense, that's critical. If this group performs as expected, the Bulldogs should run the ball more efficiently, protect the quarterback better, and allow the offense to operate at the pace Lebby wants.

My early expectation would be that the offensive line ends up being a team strength rather than a liability, which is something Mississippi State has not been able to say consistently over the last few seasons.
Average to slightly above average OL? You really think this OL is #6-#9 in the SEC? I think more like #10-#14. And lord help us if we have an injury.

K1 will end up with video game #s. Our oline will be a little better, but we are going to think they are much better. The defensive gameplan will be make State beat us with the pass. So dline will be told don't rush upfield with reckless abandon because K1 just gonna make a cut and upfield for 5+. So with that said, Taylor will be able to sit in the pocket and he can hit the wide open pass. Its going to be a pick your poison for def coordinators, either way, we have the qb to win.

My son's & I were talking about this & some comparisons. He's way ahead of Fitz as a passer & look what he did his first year starting at State & only 2nd career season to start.

Also the OL is better than people realize. I can't wait to see it with KT & these WRs. Going to be some happy crow eating folks around these parts.

Another thing about Taylor is he will throw a deep 50/50 ball on 3rd and 10 instead of taking a sack or throwing it underneath. Much more positives to come from that mindset. A huge play, a p.i., late hit on qb, an incomplete and punt, or a pick which equals a punt. Alot of great college qbs will throw it up and let wrs make a play. All of ours recently just fold to the sack. If you do that and its 2nd and 19, your gonna punt anyway. He will let it fly.

Our OL is going to much better and deeper than it’s been in a while. I think 6th to 9th in the conference is about right for projections. I know that’s doesn’t fit your mantra but it’s not like you been up there or seen practices, hell the only information you get is from this board.

Just googled sec offensive line rankings for 2026. I’ve seen 16, 16, 15 & 14 in the first 4 hits. I don’t think it’s quite that bad (lord I hope not). But 6th - 9th is definitely an outlier prediction.

Google is your frame of reference. Got it. It’s not an outlier it’s that we have improved our roster and coaching. Why is it’s always with you that we are just going to suck? It’s not the same OL we ran out there last year.

So where are your independent sources saying we’ll have the 6th-9th OL in the SEC? I mean, if so, that’s a damn good OL.

My sources are my eyes which I saw in a few spring practices I attended. and my sources are people who have already seen us practice these first few days . I’ll be in Starkville a few times to watch and observe as well before the season. But keep on googling

Wonder what Grok says about it? You have to pay for different levels of Grok knowledge, but many people do. Supposedly, a lot of high-level firms subscribe to it.

If only I cared enough to. Seriously we do have an AI research tool at work & it’s pretty dang good. Dont know which one of the major ones it uses though.

How can it be? Is our turf made of magic grass? Are we going to figure out how to turn chickenshiitt into chicken salad?
I guess we have a lot of uninformed fans out here. We have a much different OL than what we had last year. They have improved and continue to do so. The addition of Mason Miller and the transfers have really made this OL a hell of a lot better. Really like what I’m hearing about Chester Shumpert Prudhomme and McVay. You know what you’re getting in Boone. Also hearing some good things about Steen, Miles and some younger guys both signees and portal players

Can he stay healthy? What did last year tell us about his durability?
He was out of the pocket scrambling when he had to leave the game in bowl. the offseason surgery was the clean up some lingering things from HS. That wasn’t to repair anything that occurred during the season or bowl game.

Saying our OL is better than last year's isn't saying much...then you throw in this assessment is based off "Fall" practices.

You act like anyone having reservations and taking a "wait and see" approach w/ the staff and OL is some sort of crazy take.

As if we haven’t been hearing glowing reports from fall practice for the last 40 years.

No, that’s not at all what I’m saying. I’m simply stating this OL going to be better than it was last year. I understand the reservations but we have added talent, depth and better coaching. My argument is that we have way too many fans posting on this board that just want to say we are going to suck just to say we are going to suck. Some go to lengths to find something negative to say.
Some on here can’t stand it when I try and bring positivity to them it is spitting in their face. So much easier I guess to be negative

You have to admit no one is really taking a "wait and see" approach from the negative side either. Just making blanket statements about how much the OL sucks, coaches suck, players suck, defense sucks, etc. That's so easy to say and I do think a bunch of you take pleasure in it for some odd reason.

I prefer to observe, consider, then opine. If I think we will suck, I will definitely say it. But I actually thought I saw glimmers of hope last year, and I think we've made some good moves this offseason (coaches, players, etc.) So that's enough for me to "wait and see" if we've improved.

Y'all (not you personally, just nearly everyone) jump on '77 because you think he's on the overly-positive-for-no-reason side, but damn there are enough of you overly-negative-for-no-reason side already. We need someone to balance it out. Sheesh.

Looking to the past, I remember Dak taking a little while for him to "learn" the position. I'm figuring Kamario will take a little while also. I want to see him develop and make the simple plays correctly.

He's saying the right things. Wants the expectations and publicity. But for a guy who played limited snaps - it's a worry. I think he has all the talent in the world obviously.

For me - make the easy plays. He's going to make the jaw dropping plays b/c of his natural ability but complete the slant, don't force, etc. That's going to be key.

But those muscle-bound adonises looked so good 'on the hoof' whenever they stepped 'off the bus'.
Haha, seems like the hoof was a Yancy term. Might have been pornfro too

Those were the days when I first had started getting into following the program and looking at the websites. Man the sunshine that was spewed during preseason. Reminds me a lot of right now. Program cratered (or so we were convinced to believe). 2006 preseason, I believe, was the pinnacle of the hype. 2 bad seasons and the 3rd would be the breakout season because we'd built it the right way. Mike Henig was 6'1", that was always my favorite. Held scoreless the first two games, a loss to Katrina-ravaged Tulane, 0-3 start. Good times. I'll never forget Gene/Steve banning people for wanting us to lose again Jax State so Croom would get fired.

Holy hell, surely Lenny isn't as bad as Croominator.

1 step better than Ralph in 2010. Equal to Dak in 2013. Next season, surpasses Dakota
