Agreed. Don’t see the mindset changing. Present mindset would rather take the air out of the ball and settle for field goals inside the red zone.
I'm sure Greg will greenlight a lot of low risk end zone corner fades but if he doesn't use Duff more in the middle and back of the end zone it's a dereliction of duty. Dude is uniquely suited for it.

You have to be fair his record is what it is, he is a losing coach and nothing is gonna change

He get 6 wins and some on here will be calling for an extension 😂
Some might but Keli won't. 6 wins gets him another year. He will still be in a prove it time.

Not gonna happen. Too much injury risk. Might be concussed running into the goalpost or be hit by a falling tuba. BTW, the Vegas O/U on the # of combined kick and punt returns in the next five years is 3, including in practices.

Lots of 49-42 type games this year? Or better D slightly weaker O in 2026?
We will need a tremendous turnaround on Defense based on the poor results of the Portal with the quality lost vs. what we picked up. The new Defense Staff should help. Don’t expect huge gains in the early part of the season. The DC while coaching at South Dakota lost the opening game at Iowa St. by 45 points and then lost the following week to Lamar. Learning the new system will take time.

Whoah! Did not know that and was hoping that some level of competence would produce at least improvement out of the gate, while of course it would take time or full implementation.

It was his first stint as the “Head Coach “ …maybe the Defense took a step back early on last season and then played better? He had been the DC for the previous 4 seasons. On a related note I don’t see on the Official RU Football Roster the transfer DB Mickey Munn from South Dakota that came with him.Anyone know his status?

That would be upsetting. Hopefully he'll be here in August.

@Richie O -is there a reason Mikey Munn is not listed on the Rutgers Football Roster? His X account says Rutgers. But he not listed on the official Roster for 2026

Because the roster hasn't been updated yet for Training Camp. Sean Allison, Mikey Munn, Tanner Raymond, Aiden Gibson, and James Cocozzo will be added when the roster is updated the first week of camp.

This is a season to seize the moment and have a winning B1G record. 5 teams in the lower half on the schedule.

From the Gannett/North Jersey.com/App.com Beat Writer, who is very even keel on Rutgers:

"At Year 7 of the Schiano 2.0 Era, it’s imperative for Rutgers to show that progress.
Another losing season would be a major disappointment."

Great commentary for a loyal son summing up Schiano as a head coach.

This comment is on point:

"Could not agree more Larry. My view for the last many years now, is that the R faithful have been conditioned, including self-appeasement, to accept mediocre as “the norm”. It’s this very type of mindset that dooms it all before we ever get going. How is it possible that we are not setting standards including Big10 championships, playoffs, 10 wins seasons, etc. Everything else in that journey is just noise, distractions and excuses. Personally, I can no longer accept it."

Again it’s a misappropriation of funds. I’m not discounting NIL or what it costs to compete. ru guy2 and I were pretty accurate for years on the details surrounding NIL. We had a department that allowed money to be spent in ways that did not lead to wins. We have a staff that is more than double, closer to 3 times the size of the average staff in the B1G. A staff that costs 2x the median of the B1G. I am not discounting NIL. You keep saying that and wanting it to be true. I understand the importance. We just had people that didn’t see the importance of it until it was too late. Greg included. Franklin choosing Va tech wasn’t because of NIL. NIL wasn’t the reason he wasnt “successful” at State Penn. and that interview isn’t saying what you think it does.
You honestly believe our total coaching expense is the reason we can't buy 4* and 5* players? No way our staff is 2x the B1G median, that's plain ignorant. Total comp is paid in many ways. NIL is the ability to buy a star DE who can pressure the QB into mistakes. We don't have the ability to pay top dollar. Takes excellent coaching to get to the middle of the B1G without commensurate support.

The numbers on our staff are posted in this thread. Both from size and expense. Just go back through it. Not going to post it for the 15th time. Money is being spent. Just not in the right place. Burry your head in the sand if you want. And at no point did I say anything regarding NIL expenditures. But keep falling flat.

It’s also about making the most of what you do have. That’s where losses like “Icing the Kicker” are so disappointing and represent examples of games we should’ve won and didn’t - having nothing to do with NIL.

The excuses and attempts at spinning Greg’s resume as “impressive” to date are getting more and more lame. He’s a fairly decent HS recruiter, and does a pretty good job wearing the CEO hat in terms of macro level program oversight. He sucks at all else but wisely set himself up for the coming make or break season to promote a future vision featuring the latter relative strength should it turn out he nailed the D hire. Basically - he passed off the keys on D and probably realizes that Johansen’s success or lack of it this year will probably determine his 2027 fate. It’s amazing to me that we have fans arguing that he would deserve to continue on for any reason other than this after 26.

Our coaching spend is in the bottom half of the league in which we compete yet you shout about overspending. "Burry" your head if you want.

The school is investing far more than bottom half in football. We aren't getting near the results other schools are getting who are spending less money.

Why? Getting rid of Greg would make money for the athletic department.

Greg's staff costs $10 million more than the conference median. See below. Adding other football program costs, like travel and meals, Rutgers spends $20 million more than the conference median on football.

Firing Greg and his 100 person staff, and replacing it with a fresh team making the conference norm, would save Rutgers millions per year, and probably would result in more revenue and wins too. Greg 2.0 tix sales are below Flood and Ash. Fewer and fewer people care about Rutgers football with Greg in charge.

The gymnastic team had the same B1G record as the football team, and the gymnastics team did it with a new coach earning far less than her predecessor.

From @Fat Koko 's post:
Rutgers is nearly tied with Ohio State for total spend on Coaches and support staff, and lost to teams spending much less.

Yea no it’s not. It’s all there on page 1 of this thread.

Do you idiots actually think Rutgers is spending twice what Ohio State spends on support staff? Clearly some schools are accounting for these expenses differently. Come on now. Common sense is fundamental. We are spending less than the top half of the B1G schools.

Are those Koko numbers audited? No way no how RU spends twice Ohio State for support staff. Common sense. Something is off.
