My initial thought is they are like ring cameras. I don’t want LEOs to just be able to look at the data generally. When there is a crime, giving them access to look at the location of the crime or nearby doesn’t bother me. Civil liability can protect against abuse by the private operators better than it can government entities. The problem with flock is the government entities are the customers, so they aren’t going to be resistant to handing the information over for any reason or no reason. But if a HOA or similar wants to put them in for their use, and the HOA has to be asked for the data, that wouldn’t be terrible. Would probably need some change in law saying there has to be a warrant to even ask unless the HOA reports a crime in their neighborhood.

But when they get to be everywhere, going to be a real danger of a government just using them regardless.

The more control the government has over you the more they want. No matter R or D, the result will be the same, less liberty and more restriction for all. At some point these will be used to issue traffic tickets will have facial recognition (if not already), etc. I want less government in my life, not more. If you take the "public safety" angle, they why stop here, there's many of ways we can be safer, why not install kill switches on all cars so the government can use it to disable a vehicle? This company has been around less than 10 years and already has a nationwide surveillance network and some of you all did not even know it.

Look up Forrest Algood DA (former) and watch the documentary about his three prosecutions of innocent people. I’m a huge law enforcement supporter but the dorosecuters are the villains. Not the beat cops

That’s fine and dandy until YOU are the innocent victim handcuffed, tasered, and locked up in jail for days or weeks and your car towed and illegally impounded leaving you with thousands of dollars in attorney fees to pay while the police are never held accountable and they and their attorneys continue to be paid with your tax dollars to abuse you just to satisfy their enormous egos. If you want to know who the Sovereign Citizens are, they’re easy to recognize - they have guns, badges, handcuffs, and tasers and think the laws don’t apply to them - and they usually don’t.

Know what would be easier and safer that that even. If the government just put a tracker on everyone complete with voice recording and video. That way when a bad guy did something, they know exactly where he is to go pick him up. Not to mention the evidence is right there on the tracker too. Don’t commit crime. Won’t be a problem.

In a vacuum, they're great. It's just an accumulation of data that is publicly observable. As long as we have license tags, we have no reason to expect privacy of where our vehicles are traveling. But people suck and can use data for nefarious purposes. I guess I need to research how my community uses them and who has access to that data and for what purposes.

The hate that is allowed here, without penalty, is fascinating to see.

A common justification is that not every thread is monitored at all times, but that is a hollow excuse since there is a long history of mods actively posting in many threads that contain wildly inappropriate racism and hate towards gay and trans people.


We as a society not only have permission to be our worst selves, but are even encouraged.
This stuff is all too normal.

I don’t hate trannys. I hate that there parents and friends don’t get them the help that they need. It’s a sickness and lazy parents/friends don’t help. It’s like a kid hurting themselves and people saying “ it’s just a phase, they’ll grow out of it”. No. Get them help

It's a free country, isn't it? We're free to say and hate whatever we want, right? Why should we be penalized? That sounds fascist. Should people like you be penalized for your outrageous hatred of all things MAGA, etc.?

I'd give good money to see just a fraction of the unjustified anger and hatred you've released upon society in your lifetime and even on here 🙄. I don't care to go back and look.

Flock cameras are a great idea if you believe the government is always competent and never corrupt.

Then there’s the real world.
