They have a good reputation for steak.
Meh. That's like having a good reputation on this board.

Pittsburgh needs to quit being open air stupid and follow suit.
I was gonna say the opposite. One fewer open air stadium that I get to watch 0 degree games from the comfort of my cozy living room. That sucks.

Kraft really looks like an idiot now. $700 MM? Renovation? Amateur.

😞
They say $3 billion now. But my guess is by the time it's finally built and the usual cost overruns are added in, the total will be closer to $4 billion. That's how the sports arena game works.

Kansas probably has a bid in for a Super Bowl. This would allow them to pad the economics
That, and the Final Four, and the Big 12 Championship gameetc. That's why the Bears, Titans and Browns are building indoor stadia. I'm sure that Chicago and Nashville now will get Super Bowls and Final Fours, and Chicago and Cleveland probably will bid for the Big 10 Championship game and Nashville will bid for the SEC Championship game.

As long as the current ownership group owns that team, they'll be one of the last ones standing with an antiquated open air stadium while they fall further and further behind all of the other teams. And I say that as a person who shares two season tickets with my brother and sister that my father and uncle originally purchased in the early 70s.

Agree, but to me it seems the Steelers want to protect the image they built for themselves back in the 70s. A hard-nosed, blue-collar team in a blue-collar steel town which plays outdoors while the snow flies. It doesn't matter that Pittsburgh is now more of a tech city and the steel industry is mostly gone.

The Steelers need to move on from 50 years ago.

For what they overpaid for the dump they're in, they could've built a domed stadium. The days of drunken half wits in the cold are long gone.

$3 billion? Can’t you buy the entire state of Kansas for far less?

😞
Sounds cool, what can't we have a dome Krafty?

Scott Radecic and his firm (doing PSU's stadium) didn't win that KC bid but came close.

Interesting that the new dome will be in Kansas and not Missouri like Arrowhead.

Our 4th and last child to launch has University of Kansas near the top of his college list so I've been monitoring the local news there for a bit.

None of us is as dumb as all of us. Taxpayers on the hook for 60% of this.

How It’s Being Paid For

The project is financed through a public-private partnership.

The public portion is funded through Sales Tax and Revenue bonds and the Attracting Professional Sports to Kansas Fund - both established specifically to avoid new state taxes or negative impact on the state budget.

Kansas lawmakers previously approved more than $2.4 billion in bonds to cover approximately 60% of the cost of the stadium, training facility and surrounding retail and entertainment space.

Renderings of the new stadium for the Kansas City Chiefs are released by the team and MANICA...

Renderings of the new stadium for the Kansas City Chiefs are released by the team and MANICA on July 22, 2026.(MANICA/Kansas City Chiefs)
The project also includes $1 billion in additional development across the State of Kansas, according to the Chiefs.

Sitting in the wind, rain and snow is beyond stupid. This isn't 70 or a hundred years ago.
These NFL teams know that to get most people into the seats and away from the comfort of their living rooms and huge TVs, they need to have a more fan friendly atmosphere, which means playing games in a comfortable, climate controlled environment. These teams also want to be able to attract other big events like Super Bowls, Final Fours, college championship games, and concerts. I frankly don't see the romanticism of attending games in late December or January when the temperature could be close to 0 degrees like the Steelers-Raiders night game was in 2022, or watching a game in snow like the Broncos-Patriots Championship game this past season that totally distorts the game, but I know that a lot of people like that.

Browns fan. I used to sit in old Municipal stadium on the shore of Lake Erie back in the 60's when the Browns weren't pathetic. No place colder in December. That was part of the experience. That and the idiots drunk on crappy beer.

So the Royals will stay in Missouri, but in a new stadium in downtown Kansas City, Missouri and the Chiefs new stadium will be in Kansas City, Kansas with headquarters and practice facility in Olathe, KS. Feel like Dorothy.

Confusing.
