New rules for SEC football in 2026

Honestly true and proven targeting --they should keep the 2nd/1st format. With what we know now especially (brain and such)
True and proven is still subjective. We’ve seen obvious targeting calls overturned and vice versa.
Appears to be SEC only. Seems odd that a conference rule could be counter to NCAA rules.
The SEC has been making a lot of noise about breaking away from the NCAA entirely over the past few days, so this seems like a small but tangible step in that direction. I feel like we’re about to be in for a turbulent time in the sport, even more so that what the portal has already created.
I feel like I'm good with both on their face....open to being convinced why they're bad.
Too many of these targeting calls have been made expecting the defender to defy the laws of physics.
If we see someone rise to the level of flagrant, obvious, undebiable head hunting then of course go ahead and escalate penalties to future suspensions. The league, the school, the coach.....they all have the power to do that.

There needs to be 2 versions of targeting. Illegal hit which is 5 yards and automatic first down with no player penalty and then targeting as it exists today. If it's not a dirty hit, the penalty is too severe but they still need to make sure they're protecting guys.

The targeting one is a one-year trial Conferences CAN opt into (and I assume most will).
The 10-yard penalty is just the college rule now.
