I think it's hilarious. They are trying to get all this traffic on the board right now to go premium knowing full well the baseball board is going to die down big time very soon. In other words sucker posters in. Well, in over 20 years Ive never felt the need for premium and I never will. The old board baseball board is free and has way more traffic than here so I'll keep posting and reading for free there.
I get having premium baseball content—sure. But there isn’t such a heavy volume of inside information circulating on IC that paywalling the forum makes any sense. Especially since IC is so close to the actual baseball program and is kind of the digital front porch of Carolina baseball, you’re cutting off a lot of what made the old free board great which was new people getting into the community of Carolina baseball casually and then developing as fans from there. It’s pretty disappointing especially after the reassurances less than a year ago when the move to On3 happened that all the forums from the previous site would continue to operate. Killing the public basketball and football board sucked, but there’s so much insider stuff I understand it as a way of protecting IC’s reporting. Doesn’t make sense for baseball.
I support protecting the content created by the IC team. Just not sure about locking the content from all the posters. IC certainly does not need to protect anything I have to say. Protect your content and posts about your content. But open up all the posts by normal folk... and that is my opinion for all the forums, not just baseball. I paid the subscription for years until I realized that most of what I was paying for was to read all the bickering between posters who thought they knew more than the others.

Decision was made in response to the flood of subscriber requests from the influx of opposing fans, but also as our staff is creating and sharing more paywall content and inside team info on the baseball side, it will keep getting more difficult to manage that. And then there's the matter of the increased resources IC is putting into baseball coverage now.

And it takes 5 minutes for anything I click on to open when I'm on my laptop which is most of the time. No problem when I'm on my phone but eye disease prevents me from being on the phone for any length of time. So I sit and wait and wait and wait for a link to open. Not about to pay for that either. Slowest damn site on the Internet regardless of what browser I use. Even slower than 247.
I understand making the articles and inside information premium but the forum for game discussions is disappointing. Opposing fans are annoying but can be ignored or managed individually. If/When we go the SEC our fans need to get thicker skin or every forum will close in 5 posts.
I guess I will continue to visit for the Olympic threads but baseball will be added to basketball and football where I feel forced to go elsewhere. My wife appreciates the changes over the last year or so as I spend a lot less time on the two combine as I did just IC before.

There must be something else going on here if it takes you 5 mins for links to open on our site on your laptop.
I just tested the site on my laptop on all four major browsers and none had any delays at all. Took 1-2 seconds to load. Maybe an ad blocker or firewall-type program is at play here?
OK. Remember I had a lot of issues on the other board as well and sill do. Ive tried 3 browsers and all are slow as crap waiting on the ads to load before anything will open for me. No issues on my phone. Thanks.
I would also like to add that I do not have high speed internet where I live. The most I have at any one time is 9 mbps. I guess with all the videos and crap that these webpages are downloading my speed isn't enough. But for yeas I have had NO ISSUES with any other websites, just 247 and now IC. That leads me to believe it is not me.
