What a good Christian man for taking the high road. I am sure he will donate most of that to starving children somewhere in the third world.

Does he get to keep his country club membership and generational season tickets? I don't want him to go without.

It's hard times out there, ya know.

This was signed on June 30th his last day. More details via KSR

“This new post-retirement deal for Barnhart will be roughly $700,000 less than the previous agreement and will not include extra benefits such as free tickets and courtesy vehicles, which were part of the controversial deal that ended up being pulled back. Regardless, it is quite the amount of money for someone retiring from the position.

Barnhart was originally expected to be given the title of Executive in Residence for the UK Sports and Workforce Initiative, but now, he will help with “fundraising and any other duties as assigned”, per his amended contract. His contract also states he will be listed as a part-time employee of the university, which will net him an additional salary of $40,000 annually.”

I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, 'Who then can be saved?' Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'

He is such a narcissistic pos. Worst person ever associated with UK athletics and I’m glad he showed who he was on the way out. Now everyone can see what manu have known for decades. Barnhart is a hatchet man POS who has an inflated sense of grandiosity seen in many people with NPD. He has been stain on this university. The man could not be questioned. Agree or be snuffed out, Mike would always say he gets along with him because he lets him take the lead and doesn’t question, only suggests.

The guy is the worst. GTFO.

He's a crooked piece of **** glad he is gone
It doesn't sound like he is even really gone. From the KSR article...

Remember when we thought Jurich was corrupt? At least he was corrupt to help the University.
Exactly. Jurich was at least who he was in the open, he didn’t hide it, and he was there to improve athletics and did. He didn’t hide behind his grandiose sense of self and pretend he’s a noble and upstanding person, too clean to lay with the peasants.

Barnhart is far more corrupt and I’m just glad his colors have been seen on the way out. Shouldn’t he be leaving that money to women’s lacrosse?

Barnhart is going out kicking and screaming. He does not want to relinquish power, this is typical of hatchet men Who spend their lives squirming their way. The president has tried everything he can to keep him invovled, and the door was slammed shut twice. This is the 3rd attempt to keep him invovled in affairs. Looks like it’s going to be allowed, BOT and political side must feel it’s meanginless enough that it doesn’t matter and will finally shut the Barnhart cockroaches up.

The guy simply enjoys being in control and wants to make people live with it, he’s obviously got an axe to grind with the people of Kentucky. He’s always spoke about it and it’s well known he hates UK fans and the people of Kentucky. The guy is really bad, he needs to be removed 100%.

Come on guys. We just hired a new AD at twice what a 20+ year employee made. It remains to be seen if that is worth it. The report said money was coming from private sources for Barnhart. the entire sequence of events just points to extravagance in college athletics as well as the bloat of administrative positions in all universities. Jurich hasn’t worked since he was canned at a relatively young age so he didn’t walk away a pauper.

What a crook he is. For years all people would say is what a wonderful Christian man he is. We know the truth now. He and Capilouto are as crooked as they come. The university needs to clean house. We will be better off when those two and their cronies are gone.

He got fired. What I mean is that the BOT wanted him to retire. He didn’t want to retire so he was forced out. They came up with that sweet deal paid by UK for Mitch to walk away. After the public along with the governor got involved, that deal was rescinded by UK. In the end he got paid anyway. Not by UK, but by Joe Craft and his conglomerate of boosters.
Mitch did a lot of good, but he lost a lost of respect in his last few years.

I am fairly well positive he would still be the AD if that is truly what he wanted.

The March contract amendment specified the university would owe Barnhart the $2.95 million in base salary it would have owed him if he remained as athletics director and two $650,000 retention bonuses he would have triggered in June 2027 and June 2028. The contract amendment he signed in March also specified he would still receive the $650,000 retention bonus he was owed June 30. Barnhart will be paid a $40,000 annual salary and continue to be eligible for insurance benefits. He will be paid annual compensation of $760,000 on Jan. 1 2027, 2028 and 2029. His final severance payment will be $780,000 on Dec 31, 2029.
