But still no Ridgewood. I wonder if Pounds still holds a grudge. Top guy this year to Penn St.
No idea why he would hold a grudge but you can't win them all. With Beida on staff, NJ recruiting is going to get better and better.

Did we try recruiting the West Morris fogo who is going to MD?

Great to see our recruits doing well and just caught up on the transfer portal thread. Looks like we picked up another good one (per Cali)

I know Mavilos was very high on the faceoff board. I’m sure they would have taken the Maryland fogo too but you can’t get them all. Hopefully he does better than the last 4* fogo from NJ that they got. He’s been riding pine for 3 or 4 years.

Mavilos was the guy. Let’s see how it all plays out. They view him highly.

Jack Combs is the LSM xfer from Vermont. Hes a monster. He’s long, can run, has great feet to cover and when he gets the ball can clear and ignite fast breaks. A true difference maker between the lines.

We might have the best portal class in lacrosse. With the 5 year rule we will have most for 2 years or more.

I am sure we did. Luke Gouse has been the best face off kid in NJ at his age for at least the last 10 years, Maryland is getting a very good player.

that's his name! it was eluding me.

I was watching him play in a game and was like "WTF...can this team win a FO??" (I dont think they won one the entire game)...and the person sitting next to me told me this kids going to MD as a FOGO!!

LOL

I’m sure he’s good but there is a massive difference in comp between a small grip public school and Chaminade. Chaminade is elite and plays an elite schedule. You’re seeing him against the highest level comp there is. It’s a real crapshoot position at the end of the day.

Guy who stands next to me on the train platform in the morning was the goalie for Chaminade back in the day. He had a nice career at Navy (when they had some excellent years). Notre Dame always seems to land several kids from there. A real powerhouse school.

They put a ton of kids into high level D1. Their current team has 20 D1 commits, many to high level D1. Not sure any school owns that pipeline but it's an A1 top tier school to draw from. 20 D1 commits is crazy.

Not arguing with you on the premise of your point. And I don't claim to know West Morris's exact schedule but they probably played Chatham Delbarton and a bunch of other really good schools with several D1 kids

Just saying that I am sure he's gone up against elite comp himself tho I will fully admit that chaminade plays a much tougher schedule and probably plays more elite opponents on a game over game basis

At the end of the day I just hope that we lock down this position because it's been a position of weakness for us in general and definitely moreso in big games

A better marker than comparing high schools is their club teams (nationally ranked). Gouse plays for BBL Black at 10 and Mavilos Shore 2 Shore at 11 so both are very high level and have probably gone against each other a few times.

Thanks! Makes sense.

I am definitely not familiar with either the HS or Club Lax scene

Not sure I’d completely agree. We had some lean years after Nardella but he was lights out. Before that it was long a position of strength. Paolatto in 25 was legit. Scarelli in 26 was getting better and better playing his best at the end of the year. We missed him a lot after Hopkins. But yea, great teams control the x typically. We need to get there. We have another commit in the 27 class that the staff is high on too. Let’s see how it goes.

The best school W Morris played was Chatham. They didn’t play any of the privates much less a number of other elite ones from around the country. Chaminade essentially played a national schedule of elite teams. I’m sure the kid is good, Maryland knows how to recruit, but from a competition perspective it’s two different levels.

My experience with elite HS is they are much closer in terms of intensity and preparation is much closer to what you will see in college than even elite club teams.

Those club teams are essentially recruiting events comparatively.

Between chamanaide and st Anthony’s those players make up the majority of club teams LI Express and 91. Those are the elite club teams on Long Island.

Elite nationally I would think. St Anthony’s is another school putting a tremendous amount of high level D1 talent out every year.

I see that Mavlios (our FOGO commit from Chaminade) returned from a groin injury to play in their final game, a close 13-12 loss to St. Anthony's. Chaminade had IL's number rated player who's is going to Duke, their goalie to ND, and another guy going to UVA. 20 players committed to play in college. Basically an all star team.

2027 FOGO commit apparently tore his ACL.

the last NJ FOGO 5* #17 top ranked in the class (Creter) has barely seen the field at MD and likely never will. Played for Hunterdon Central. I’d take my chances with a Chaminade FOGO that has played one of the hardest schedules in the country and trains in a college environment.

Flip side of MD FOGOs, their all-time leader in every category, Wierman, got rated a 77 by IL and I don’t think had any stars. Was committed to Fairfield until the coach left and vouched for him with MD HC who rolled the dice. Toughest position to judge future success

Poor Aldo? OK sure - yes every single one of our recruits will be AAs.
Never said they’d be AA but it wouldn’t surprise me. Kinda funny how 3 unranked players made the Summit though. Did your son get an invite?

Can I take a guess? I feel somewhat confident about it so I certainly don't want to post personal information unless you are OK with it.
He seems very comfortable throwing kids he's never seen play and knows nothing about under the bus, but is overly protective of his kid who he claims is some superstar. Really weird.

So 4 of our non ranked IL recruits were named All American and all made their All State Teams, 3 first team lol

Aldo down in flames hahaha

Dude has some real explaining to do. Apparently there has been a lot of conflicting information he's posted on the wrestling board that has caught some eyes.

The only person that’s “really weird” here is you. I never once threw any kid under the bus. I hope every kid, ranked or unranked, succeeds. The basic debate was about IL rankings and how RU’s classes have not fared well in recent years which has led to lackluster results and the need to hit the portal heavy to improve talent and fill gaps. Never said my kid is a “superstar” - but he’s ranked at his position, committed to a top 10 program with a top recruiting class, and will play for a national championship one day.

IDK why I waste my time because you have serious issues, which BTW are also obvious on Fanlax. As I’ve said, hope all these kids are studs. But the most ridiculous part of your entire argument is that IL rankings are useless and don’t mean squat…however AA and All-State teams mean everything. Both are in-exact and heavily influenced by coaches and interests unrelated to on-field performance.

I'd put much more stock into AA and all state teams then I would an IL rating. IL only watches players at showcases and club events, in which they only play against kids in their grade. perfect example is Mahoney and Jast, they're all Americans and play for top 10 teams in NJ.

I post on fanlax, cali said he does not.

and I've been trying to stay out of the stuff with your kid but if my kid was committed to a top 10 d1 program, I'd brag my *** off about it. I hope your kid does succeed and has a great college career and experience.

I hear you…for the most part it’s all a bunch of nonsense heavily influenced by factors unrelated to lacrosse. Regardless, great honor for the kids. If RU was having success on the field while having low rated classes then most of this discussion is moot. But IMO low rated classes + lack of success + heavy portal activity = recruiting gap that needs attention.

I’ve always avoided mentioning my kids other than general references because it’s too personal for a message board… but I try to add perspective based on my experiences.

If there is any perceived conflicting information it’s based on a misunderstanding or misinterpretation. I have no reason to BS here I support RU athletics across several sports. We all want the same thing and that’s winning programs.

I’ve barely posted there since the wrestling season ended. No clue about being a “fugazi” especially when I prob know most of those guys as my kid grew up in the NJ wrestling scene and wrestled on Ashnault’s youth teams/events and trained with plenty of RU recruits. Wrestling world is very small.

Do you realize you sound like a psycho? LOL - DMs and “other people” - if they have that much time on their hands and are that interested in me = why would I ever post personal info here? I take it you don’t have kids that made it to the D1 level?
