- Cal tried to recruit back Meeks who was a shooter and not a pure athlete.

- He recruited Knight, who was very skilled but not a great athlete. Recruited Doron Lamb who was a sharpshooter but not a great athlete. Recruited Enes Kanter who wasn’t a great athlete, but ruled ineligible.

- He recruited Kyle Wiltjer, awful athlete. Didn’t end up working out with Wiltjer, but he certainly went after him.

- He brought in Julius Mays aka Bubble Butt and he was definitely not brought in because of athleticism.

- Dakari Johnson and the Harrison twins.

- Trey Lyles and Devin Booker

- Skal Labissiere, Jamal Murray

- Wenyen Gabriel

- Quade Green, PJ Washington

- Tyler Herro, Immanuel Quickley

- Nate Sestina

- Davion Mintz, Olivier Sarr

- CJ Fredrick, Sahvir Wheeler, Kellen Grady

- Antonio Reeves

- Tre Mitchell

And you may nitpick some of these (yeah he wasn’t a supreme athlete but he was extremely quick) but Calipari didn’t just recruit pure athletes. I believe he tried to have a mix on most his teams. He definitely prioritized athleticism and potential over skill by and large but it wasn’t absolute.
