A bunch of BBN poopoo posters dogged Herro when he was recruited. Just think if Milan had been recruited by Cal, so many Nancies would have bad talked him before ever seeing him play.
It’s mentioned in an article that Tyler did reach out to him, and that his & Tyler’s fathers know each other etc.

Cal didnt want him he doesnt really go after players that just shoot hes more for big athletes . Herro is a Cal guy first he wpuld of helped Cal before UK IMO
2010 - Cal tried to recruit back Meeks who was a shooter and not a pure athlete.
2011 - He recruited Knight, who was very skilled but not a great athlete. Recruited Doron Lamb who was a sharpshooter but not a great athlete. Recruited Enes Kanter who wasn’t a great athlete, but ruled ineligible.
2012 - He recruited Kyle Wiltjer, awful athlete. Didn’t end up working out with Wiltjer, but he certainly went after him.
2013 - He brought in Julius Mays aka Bubble Butt and he was definitely not brought in because of athleticism.
2014 - Dakari Johnson and the Harrison twins.
2015 - Trey Lyles and Devin Booker
2016 - Skal Labissiere, Jamal Murray
2017 - Wenyen Gabriel
2018 - Quade Green, PJ Washington
2019 - Tyler Herro, Immanuel Quickley
2020 - Nate Sestina

And you may nitpick some of these (yeah he wasn’t a supreme athlete but he was extremely quick) but Calipari didn’t just recruit pure athletes. I believe he tried to have a mix on most his teams. He definitely prioritized athleticism and potential over skill by and large but it wasn’t absolute.
Told him he’d be stupid for turning down that much money.

I don't disagree. But it's still nice to see former Cats speak positive. He could have been like na Kentucky isn't the spot. Go to Arkansas if they were all about Cal.
I don't think they are the reason he picked UK it just makes me happy that they reached out and supported UK. I look at it as support anyway.
