I would think it would have to go to penalties. If a match is won in extra time, there’s an official winner & loser. If a match goes to penalties, it’s a draw and the winner of the shootout advances.
According to what I read last night, the one game red card suspension is not appealable. We are only able to appeal if FIFA extends the suspension to multiple games, which surely they will not do. But it's FIFA, so you never know.
What I saw is that it is technically appealable, but that once VAR is involved, you're basically not going to win any appeal. No clue if the people saying that knew what they were talking about, but they had British accents and were on an official looking set, so maybe they do.

Well that all depends on how you define “choke job”… if Vegas shows that we are favored… MANY would consider losing a game we are favored to win, (once in a few decades World Cup game AT HOME) a choke job. It all depends on who you ask. Belgium is very old and not very well respected in Europe. We CAN and SHOULD win. I expect us to. We’ll see.
Don‘t ask me. I think that one is a toss up. I’d say Belgium has the better talent, but a lot of what’s better is past their prime. A young team like ours might be able to exploit that.
I am guessing the people I saw were talking out their ***. Not sure if they were confusing rules applicable to different FIFA events or maybe even other leagues, but they were damn confident about it.
