In our match last night right before half there was an actual serious collision at mid field. USA player goes down and is down for quite awhile. He gets up and is pretty wobbly, but with the limited subs he gets ready to continue playing. The Ref gets in face and points him to the sideline. Seems he had to stand out of play for a minute where he would miraculously recover from his concussion in that amount of time. He runs back onto the field after the minute is up and finishes the half.
With the concerns on concussions in sport seems there would be something in the rules to allow for a substitution that would not count as part of the sub limit to protect players from themselves. In the NFL that guy would go under the blue tent and an independent doctor would have to give an okay for him to return.
