So who plays the 2 while the other is at the point? Neither can shoot.
A good question. It will end up being whoever earns those spot minutes between Morton, Noah, Kam and Hawthorne when both Zoom and Wilkins aren't on the floor together. My expectation, maybe misguided but it just "feels" like what the staff is trying to do, is that Kam and Hawthorne get time at the 2 (despite being large wing/SF type bodies) and providing the rest minutes for Milan at the 3. I don't see Milan playing much, if hardly ever, at the 4. All that to say, not that the lineup can't go differently and be more fluid, but this entire roster is tall and wing big wing heavy. Whichever one can hit shots, move the defense, and get stops on the perimeter on the defensive end will win the job as the backup 2. I think Kam and Hawthorne's length will cause problems for team on the perimeter as long as they prove to be quick enough to guard penetration. It does help when you have two good shot blocking 7 footers waiting in the paint to assist.

Mick Cronin is a garbage coach and an outright butthole of a human being. Have no idea how he is still employed at UCLA.
He went to the Final Four after playing in the First Four and should have beaten Gonzaga in the Final Four had it not been for a half court shot at the buzzer. He took Cincinnati to 14 straight NCAA tournaments which is even more impressive when you look at Wes Miller not taking UC to the NCAA tournament in his 5 years there.

I get why Pope would go after this kid, but hell it just makes everybody look bad now, Was Pope unsure of his guard depth? If he does nothing now, what does that tell us about the team?
It appears he was recruiting this year for next year’s team. That seems obvious to me.

The funny thing is that no one here knew of Nicola until news broke that Pope was trying to land him. Now, some think UCLA’s recruiting victory is devastating.

That was a fluke run.

ok, i was just glad to see someone calling him out. I think Pilgrim and Branham both mentioned the BS minutes restriction nonsense.
I gotcha. I just don’t feel like either one was “lying”. I think they’re the ones being fed BS by the agents and they haven’t learned yet to not rush out and report it. Still on them but I don’t think they’re intentionally trying to mislead.

I guess I would hope the media would have known more of the truth, that Pope tried to get in on this recruitment, it was basically already over, the agents used UK to a bigger bag, and the recruit chooses UCLA. but we did'nt get that, but I will quit crying at noon.

LA is garbage; I have had the misfortune of living out there. Better food options, and winter doesn't suck there, but other than that......
Yeah to each their own but I am there often for work, unfortunately. It has all the potential in the world to be a great city/state but they apparently went the other way with it. There are parts good but as a whole is horrible.

Look I certainly have my issues with Pope and I'm not sold he's the man for the job. But in what world do you look Mick Cronin and say he would be fun to play for?!?
I think it’s more so the assistant coach that is apart of the Serbian national team program. It’s a bigger role being guaranteed I bet and comfortability with a coach he and his family knows. Also I wouldn’t doubt he is in portal and possibly at UK in year 2.

I get that but Mick Cronin gives punches orphans on Christmas vibes.

All these insiders need to learn the agents are only using them for misinformation trying to get every dollar out of the school the player actually wants to go to by playing all the schools against each other in a bidding war. They have fallen for it every time. Just doing the agents work for them.

Dent chose UCLA over us and now retired from the sport completely because of the mental toll of playing for Cronin
I'm no fan of Cronin and would porbably hate playing for him. That said, Dent's stated reasons for leaving the sport had no mention of Cronin. Not a fan of people saying things like this and presenting it as fact.

Did he officially sign with them?
Looks like it's a done deal..
In the end, I think the kid just wanted to live in L.A. While there is more money on the table in Lexington, if he performs at a high level in Los Angeles, it can certainly lead to more opportunities and endorsement dollars down the road when he is in the NBA. It would have been a nice add, especially for 2027-28, but I don't think it is a big deal as far as this season goes

Yeah. We will make the sweet 16 and u will sau thats a victorious season
I think we could do a lot better than that with this team, but as competitive as things are in the portal/NIL era, S16 is a good(not great) season. I just wonder why you have to already begin with the sky is falling routine months before we play our first game. It's so tiresome dude

Is it just because he's tied up with the fiba world cup and that's why he's not committing to UCLA or people just throwing **** against the wall and seeing what sticks?
