“Mississippi State’s money….” Not something you often hear. But good news for us
YesIs this the freshman at La Tech??
I assume he came here for the fall game so maybe he liked what he saw. It was an impressive crowd for fall baseball. It sounds like they liked more than just the nil package and hopefully that is the case; I’m not excited about signing any mercenaries.
If it makes you feel any better, it's always kind of been like this in baseball. It was just coded as scholarship money. Because of the partials, your mix and match of money often determined where you signed.Piecing together information; olemiss, lsu, and ark were all after him. He supposedly grew up wanting to play at upig and was headed that way until we convinced him to visit. Well damn, there goes any chance we had of being good this Fall in football, we're gonna suck now
So are we recruiting him with the expectation that he'll be our closer?Yes
6-2 185 lbs
3-2 record with a 3.54 ERA & 5 saves
19 appearances 1 start
.195 batting average against
48 1/3 innings pitched with 49 Ks & 15 walks
I would think so and then move into the rotation the following year. Logic says he and Bauer likely end up sharing the closing duties and both move into the starting rotation after next season. Bauer could be first out of the pen in close games, sort of like a fourth starter, which is what he had started doing this year. Going by numbers (ERA, BA, etc) the portal pitchers this year are looking a lot better than last year; they are also guys that other SEC schools are after which wasn’t the case last year.So are we recruiting him with the expectation that he'll be our closer?
Yes he isSo is he in the boat yet ?
Does Portal close today or tomorrow?
We’ve loaded up on freshman All-Americans this cycle. Very exciting portal class with several of them being multi-year guys (Allen included).
Feels like the pitch to him was key bullpen arm in ‘27 and then weekend starter in ‘28.
I don’t understand a single word you typed other than confused.I am completely confused. It’s as if we have a competent head coach leading a well-resourced program that successfully recruits elite prospects. Totally transformative given the historical circumstances.
It's brilliant. You get a sort-of-proven guy (at least he's done well his freshman season), plus -- unlike a senior or draft eligible junior coming in -- you know he's got at least a couple of years here. I realize I'm stating the obvious, but I've never seen us focus so much on it as a real strategy and I'm loving it.Dang. We’ve got nearly half the FR all-America team on Our roster next year.
Just wait until whoever is at left tackle whiffs on a block against ULM…..This is going to rile up the crowd that blames baseball for every problem our football program has.

Why would telling him they've always been mercs make him feel better? If it makes you feel any better, it's always kind of been like this in baseball. It was just coded as scholarship money. Because of the partials, your mix and match of money often determined where you signed.
Good fr season. Then injuries. Barely played last year coming back. If he can get back to 100%, he should be able to contribute. But doubt he’s a major factor for us.

Was a weekend starter before ucl repair and came back at the end of season. Should be back full strength. With injuries who knows where he falls. Could be mid week starter. Lots of options and competition. It'll be interesting to see where he falls if he gets it back to where he had been before injury.Mid week guy
