During halftime the announcers said Casemiro screwed up on the goal. If anyone wants to bother educating me, thanks in advance.

I see it now. Casemiro moved up and allowed the Japanese player to get a step on him.
It was a great goal. Great defense getting the steal, a great pass, a fabulous first touch, goal. Credit to Brazil.
Two round-of-32 matches so far, two winning goals in second-half stoppage time.
And the Japanese fans will still clean up the stadium.
Really was. One team content to pack it in, the other trying to break through for pretty much the entire match.
I had to look at it twice but I'm far from a soccer expert...honestly hate the offside rule in soccer lol
On EVERY goal in the World Cup, VAR checks for offsides, for fouls that may have been missed that would have negated the goal, etc. So it was reviewed, just not in a obvious manner.

Remember that the USMNT dominated that Paraguay team (granted we had some positive variance from an xG standpoint, but we were clearly the better team for all 90 minutes).
I have a feeling that if the USA played Paraguay again, it would be a very different game. I’m not saying that Paraguay would win, but they wouldn’t lose 4-1 either. With that said, this wasn’t a great Germany team; they finished 2-2 and needed a very late goal to beat Ivory Coast and lost to Ecuador. In the last three World Cups, they didn’t make out of the Group Stage twice and then lost in the Round of 32, which is de facto not making out of the Group Stage in the old system.
