I'd check the reset coil. There should be a reset plunger and it could be gummed up (or the coil could be going south). Does it reset to zero when you manually push on it?

No. It can't get to zero. There is bar on the back of the gear so the gear won't go any further and can't hit the contacts. That is why I think the contacts are on on the wrong side of bracket.

Could the gear be set in the wrong position?

The Playboy pin ball machine was a favorite at a bar where I went to college.

1. Ms PacMan because the maze changed and it got progressively harder as you progressed, unlike PacMan.

2. Donkey Kong - I spent a ton of quarters at the local corner store back in the day on this game.

3. Burgertime - I never saw it in an arcade. The only place I played it was on an Activision Gaming set. I only knew 1 person that had Activision. You won by knocking down pieces of a burger til it was complete, while avouding the bad guys which were hot dogs if memory serves me correctly.

I can't play any of the modern games because they make me sick from motion sickness. Retro games are about all I can play but I don't play that often. I spent most of my time at ghe playground as a kid rather than in front of a screen.

I have been there. Also toured Benchmarks factory in lake worth.

Went to Silverball on an off night special. I think it was about $10 for two hours. Also have a cash bar and bar pizza.
Pay $10 and they never kick you out. You can play all the pinball machines, video games, etc for free for as long as your heart desires. Love they have drink holders on every machine. I always take out of towners there and they are blown away by the place.

It is very cool. I think it was an old movie theater. 2 hours is plenty for me.

Loved 4-player Trog, could go for 45 minutes on one quarter.

Jurassic Park pinball too.

Man, I really miss Playland.

82-83 in Mont Alto there was a general store on the square that had a back room with donkey Kong and asteroids, but my favorite games were Zaxxon, pole position, commando and spy Hunter. I own a 60-in-1 arcade with DK, Pac-Man, Zaxxon, etc. but I haven't played it in a couple of years. I should sell it.

Fireball, awesome. It loaded balls that you aimed at certain pockets that captured them and then it would fire them at the flippers, and they'd cross the rotating rubber pad. Really trippey game at Campus Casino. On the right as you entered the front door. Then about ten machines down on the right. It was for sale at State Amusement for a while.

I had forgotten about that one. it could frustrate the heck out of you, with the redirections by the pad, and the release of the captured balls, etc.

Does anyone remember Gorf - treked a mile to a Stop-N-Go to play that one

played Ms PAC Man with second wife on first date at Christmas Candy Lane - she beat me but my story is that I let her win - celebrate 30 years this summer so it must have worked 🤣

Our local pizza joint had a KISS pinball machine and since I’m a fan that was my Fav!

Me - I gravitate toward Gottlieb EM's - Surfer would probably be a favorite - it has everything. As for video, original Donkey Kong easily. So good, and so hard, they made a documentary about it (and a good one at that).

Was a big Galaxian guy

I had forgotten that game and hadn’t thought of Campus Casino in a LONG time since I spent more time at Playland. Now that you describe it I do remember that machine though. Very cool

Space Invaders while I was in Knoxville. Not to harsh this thread’s mellow but that was time wasted.

I get the sentiment for sure, but my own lens on it is different. To me, not every moment of our lives needs to be productive or a build toward something bigger.

If you had fun at the time and there are pleasant memories associated with it — especially if any of them are shared with friends or family — then IMO it wasn’t time wasted. :) “It” here not meaning Space Invaders specifically, but any pastime that may tend to be considered frivolous at first consideration.

Another favorite video game was Tapper. The Budweiser versions are hard to come by nowadays:
