Me - I gravitate toward Gottlieb EM's - Surfer would probably be a favorite - it has everything. As for video, original Donkey Kong easily. So good, and so hard, they made a documentary about it (and a good one at that).

Spy Hunter, though it was very hard to play long games since it was standup and you had to have your right foot on gas or brake. You’d end up standing on 1 leg mainly which was uncomfortable. I don’t know why it wasn’t a seated game with a bucket seat.

In the United States, Spy Hunter topped the RePlay upright arcade cabinet from April to November 1984.[12][13][14][15] It also topped the Play Meter dedicated cabinet charts for street locations in July [16] and November 1984.[17] The game was listed by AMOA as one of the US's top five highest-grossing arcade games of 1984,[18] with AMOA later giving it the award for "most played" arcade video game of 1985 in the United States.[19] In 1995, Flux magazine ranked the arcade version 29th on their list of the "Top 100 Video Games". They praised the game music, controls and gameplay

Agree - documentary ‘The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters’ is excellent. Favorite arcade games - Double Dragon, Yie Ar Kung Fu, and Rolling Thunder.

We agree on something Midnighter.

That and the Billy Corben docu's on FL. Square Grouper - the Everglade's City portion is the best. Tells the story of how the gubbmint took their fishing away, so they turned to something else.

Cocaine Cowboys was real life in SoFla. We used to have a body show up in an abandoned car in the old Palm Beach Mall parking lot every other week.

Best EM: Bronco
Best 80s pins: Comet, Cyclone.
Best Multiball: Pinbot.

Best pinballs were Williams 80s/ early 90s. Pre 80s EMs are too slow. New games have too much going on.

I have a Williams blue chip EM. Ok game. Got it for free. My friend is in the coin ops business. He has a warehouse with 300+ games.

Track and Field....its better withthe roller ball.

A great place to play retro games is the Museum of Play in Rochester NY. My wife and I went last year...got there when they opened and went right to the games on the second floor....bottom is all you kids play areas. We had almost the whole 2nd floor to ourselves for 2 hours!

Loved Asteroids. I have a windows version that I have yet to load on my current PC. I wonder if it would run? Good stuff.

Any EM guys in here? My pinball guys don't even work on EMs.

Any advise on tracing a short? I keep blowing fuses and now won't start.

At the John Varvatos store in NYC (which was formerly CBGB's) they have a Captain Fantastic (Elton John) pinball in the back. Itsq not set up to be played but seeing that was like seeing the Holy Grail of Pinball.

We used to go to Jenkisons arcade in Point Pleasant as a family (at least the youngest three of us) and my mother would play Pac Man. If you knew my mother, you’d be shocked that she played a video game.
My favorite in the 80s was probably Centipede. I was never very good at it but couldn’t get enough of it!

I love pinball but couldn’t really tell you one from another.

Anyone ever been to OC Maryland? There is a big french fry stand on the boardwalk. Their thing is vinegar and salt. They refuse to provide ketchup. I don't get it.

The funny thing is the arcade next door started putting ketchup packets in a claw machine. Lol.

I USED to know so much about EM's. My advice is AI. My Surfer has been broken for 3 years and I've had 2 techs here. There is one bank of switches that is just effed up/bent/etc. Neither could fix it. My Super Score works great though and that has a freakin' roulette wheel on the playfield.

I'd love to find one of these someday. Only made in EM form for one year - 1979.

What is your opinion?

Have an issue with the ball count unit.
Wheel turns as each ball is played. White post at 6:00 moves from 6:00 to 7 to 8 to 9 and back to 6:00. Post never actually touches the contact to open the circuit and reset the balls to 0.

I think maybe tge contacts are on the wrong side of bracket or maybe the pads in between the contacts are the wrong order.

Had very little $ when I was younger and could never bring myself to spend $ in this manner
I had no money when I was younger... I spent my parents' money.

The current day version of this is v-bucks.

My favorite arcade game was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I'd check the reset coil. There should be a reset plunger and it could be gummed up (or the coil could be going south). Does it reset to zero when you manually push on it?
