I could see this going either way, i.e., their best players leaving or waiting to see who the new coach is good to be. If it’s someone like Donovan or Oats I could see them all rallying around this sudden change of events. Kind of like the ‘89 Michigan team did when Bill Freider left for Arizona State.

The fact that Momcilovic is at UK shows why Otzelberger should instantly accept if offered.

You can’t afford to keep your star at ISU, but at Michigan you sure can.
Apparently according to Torres there were frustrations about NIL at Michigan for basketball even after winning the title.

Wow! Working on a deal to be the next Mavs coach.
There’s obviously a ton that would need to happen between point A and point B but UK was never going to be able to hire May away from Michigan in the current landscape, however there’s a world where May gets fired after a few years with the Mavs and becomes available at the same time UK needs a new coach…

I personally think the NBA is a better job than college currently. You might not last as long but you will land on your feet and probably get another chance. Roster is currently determined by GM as is all pay with limits. NIL is on the individual player and much more time off between seasons.

We have good guards; we need a PF.
Perhaps you weren’t aware, but Diallo was not that good at Washington. Being the erratic point for an underachieving losing team hardly leaves me confident that he’s the guy to lead us to a title.

PG is the most important position in CBB. And Cadeau is the one who just led his team to the national championship and was named Final Four MVP. We may have zero chance at him, but I think it’s weird that you think adding another PF would do us more good than that guy.

In your opinion, who is our power forward right now?

I just don't see the Mavs being a better job than Michigan right now. You just won a title, you can outspend almost any other program (Mavs you get to spend the same as all 30 other teams), you probably have close to a lifetime-type of contract at Michigan.

But maybe the NIL era is just too insane to deal with year in and year out. And he does get Cooper Flagg who might be a top10 current NBA player already.

But still, Mavs could fire him in 2 years like it's nothing.

Imo you nailed it on nil era. Most anyone with legit options in coaching will just leave. One year free agency across the board with no salary cap is just insane.

He would probably keep the team together IMO. Probably the best hire currently and review after year one.
Not with his body of work at osu previously. Lackluster hire and “interim” perfectly stated. It’s a pure continuity hire but he will fail once these class is gone imo

I think hes gonna get there this year. I don't like it, but hes very close. You can look at it another way in that he still doesn't have any sort of accolades so how could he be a top10 player or even a top50 player.

But I think if you're starting a team tomorrow.. You take Wemby, SGA, Joker, Ant-man, maybe Brunson for his clutchness... and then who else?

He finished April with 30/7/4 per game on shooting splits of 47/43/95. He was cooking.
Who you're taking long term and who's better right now aren't the same thing as we know all too well. I don't think he's NBA 2nd team or better this year. But for a coach who plans to be there 5+ years he's definitely enticing.

Take your pick. N’Diaye, McBride, and Hawthorne are all suited to play the 4. And Momcilovic and Kam also have experience at that spot in small ball lineups.

Look, I doubt we have a realistic chance at Cadeau, but it’s just stupid to not want him IF we could get him. There’s no PF options that would do more for us this year.

How exactly has Cal been “a thorn in our side”? We’ve played him twice and we are 1-1.
It's kindled a rivalry between the schools when we have enough rivalries as it is. Former players pledging allegiance to Arkansas, prospects seeing Kentucky as outdated, the college basketball world claiming we made a mistake, the SEC getting tougher and tougher, etc. Otherwise, I agree with you. I'm not scared of the head-to-head matchup this year.

If he had gone to another school, maybe we wouldn't be dealing with this.

Well it also matters how much mileage they have. When I mentioned Joker above I honestly took a pause and thought to myself, which one would I rather have for the *next* 10 years? Its close.

So maybe Flagg isnt one of the top10 best players right now. But I think hes top 10 in terms of players to build around going forward.

Is Hawthorne suited to play the 4? I really like Wilkins.
