You ignoring the state economics is ignorant. 🙄

Given that I live in the state of Mississippi, I consider NIL & Collectives to be a luxury.

Now there is nothing wrong with luxury. I’ve been known to splurge on experiences that I love.

However, my gameday experiences at MSU have by and large been lacking, so I no longer attend games.

Why should I reward incompetence a staid, unchanging organization?

Edit to add: I will give kudos to State getting Zach Bryan to perform at Davis Wade last month.

I strongly considered going; however, family obligations took precedence.
You will find other excuses to not give. You are in the minority here where you still think we operate like it’s 1997. Keep your money your right. But that doesn’t give you the platform to criticize decisions made because you are not a stockholder. It definitely doesn’t give you the right to make up lies when you and others don’t understand the situation in which we had to dig out of.

No. It's more that I don't want to set my money on fire.

And I'm never told you I don't give......to baseball.
Again goat. You haven’t been to a game in 10 years, you don’t give and you would move goal post because it doesn’t fit your mantra. You sit in 047 and are criticizing a program you have zero vested investment. Pretty sure you said you didn’t even attend MSU. You are the epitome of what we are trying to bleed out of this fan base. Those that are negative and don’t understand the reality of our program.

I used to be really worried about this. But I do think, for the foreseeable future, we're probably fine, MSU at least. But we're certainly not making up any ground.
Yes, MSU is likely fine.

However, it remains to be seen when it comes to the State of Mississippi…

You are the worst poster on this board. But let’s go there. When did you last attend a football game. When did you you attend msu and do you give to MsU? Should be easy answer.
Last game I went too. Egg bowl. Last time in Starkville was April . Graduated in May of 2000

Players that choose to come to MSU do not want to win the SEC. Those type of players who want to compete for championships go to teams who can compete for championships.

That’s why we score on high recruits n baseball. We compete.

In football, we farm for the larger schools. It will be this way until they reformat and give teams like MSU a reason to put on a jersey.

NIL money sure does help get the high 3 stars locked up….but it does nothing for a losing program.

A lot of these Mississippi kids have dealt with adversity…so when a team like Florida State comes calling, you answer the phone and say yes….kids see that as a victory.

When teams like MSU come calling, you play the hat game, especially if you want to compete for a championship.

The group think on Genespage was remarkable, you could see this especially when they were holding weekly polls promoting firing Mike Leach during a 9-4 season. If you brought up an opposing , sane viewpoint you were threatened with banning, well known mods who now work “elsewhere” would send you nasty pms if you weren’t onboard. Very low iq stuff and it really led to where the program is today. I believe the truth has finally sunk in.

Oh yeah, there was one Idiot on Genespage who kept saying that I couldn’t be both a State and Southern Miss fan, and I had to choose…

Wonder what he’d think if I told him that I make a decent living thanks in large part to the degree I earned from Southern Miss and not the two I got at State… 😂

You are in the minority here where you still think we operate like it’s 1997.

1997. We went 7-4, beat both Bama and Auburn and won 2 other conference games for a total of 4 that season, which is 3 more in 1 season than Hefty Lefty has won in 2 seasons. We had a coach then that gave a damn about winning more than just getting a paycheck and getting on a Sooner Schooner to ride into the sunset back in Norman. 1997 was a pretty good year, followed up by a Cotton, Peach, and Independence Bowl in the next 3 years. Do you think Rockey Felker left Jackie w/ anything to work with when he was hired (your favorite Lebby excuse)? Jackie went 7-5 and won 3 conference games after Rockie had gone 5-6 1-6 the previous season. He then went 7-5 4-4 the next.

Keep your money, your right. But that doesn’t give you the platform to criticize decisions made because you are not a stockholder.

Do you really think tossing a few bucks into the offering plate to some fund to turn around and give to "here today and gone tomorrow" mercenaries entitles fans to say more than fans that don't give to it? That sounds exactly like what you said to me.

I graduated from MSU myself. My wife got her degree and graduated from there as well. We have two kids w/ 4 degrees from there. I bought season football and baseball tickets for 40+ years, basketball for probably 20 of those years. I've given to the Bulldog Club all of those years. I've bought camera equipment and drafting tables w/ uplights under them for the department I graduated from. I sponsor golf events every year for that department still today. There's an established scholarship that is given every year to a deserving student that my family and my wife's family established several years ago. You think I'm not entitled to express my opinion after 40 years of following and donating to athletics in Starkville and the University itself? The deal I made w/ my kids was we would pay the fraternity/sorority stuff, the living expenses, groceries, etc and they pay the actual schooling when they graduated. If I'm going to start throwing money to MSU its going to pay for the portion of their education that they still owe for, not some fly by night athlete looking for a handout to go buy a new car and jewelry with.

You've got a lot to learn, there's way more to this university than getting an 1878 shirt and bumper sticker that gives fans the right to express their opinions and be a so called "stockholder" as you call them.

Tell us more boomer. My family was one of the first to be part of “win something today” Bulldog Club. Don’t lecture me on what the current environment is in collegiate football and sports. My family has donated a **** ton of money to the university over those 50 years, yes 50 years, and we continue to do so. We accept change is part of the journey.

You might think throwing some bucks at mercenaries, but like you most on this FREE message board still can’t comprehend that we lost zero players to the portal this year we wanted to keep….. Why, cause those of who give made sure we weren’t going to be out bid.
I give credit to OM they have the big donors just like we do but they buy into the fact even the 25 a month donors help out in the aggregate unlike our fans. Our fans run when the hat is passed around and make excuses to not give or pull their funding when they don’t get there way. We have a weak minded fans that post on this message board.

Yeah, your TO team of scrubs is NOT going to be effective much less score on ANY SEC defense. And any drives with your TO scrubs are just a total waste of drives. No SEC defense is going to have to game-plan for them. You could randomly pick the 11 defensive starters for each position off of SEC defenses and have them just show up without practicing together and they would dominate your TO team of scrubs.
Yeah, well I'm old enough to remember us getting our asses kicked by an Air Force Academy team that had no business being on the same field with us from an athlete POV. Not one of them could have made our team, much less the 2-deep.

Historically the TO was the equalizer that gave teams on the wrong end of the talent gap a fighting chance, and it worked damn well for a long time until defenses figured out how to defend it, including the discipline required, etc.

But those defenses never had to contend with 2 very different offenses with one week of prep. I'm not saying it's an easy thing to do, or even that is it possible from a practical POV. But I do think it has potential if some program can make it work logistically. If it could be done it could be a nightmare for the other team's defense, and probably wouldn't even require the offenses to be even close to elite. If they could be at least decent, even a little below-average on one or both offenses, it could be like a baseball pitcher who's fastball tops out at 89, but he can also throw a killer changeup, slider, or curveball.

Sure, most hitters can handle an 89 MPH fastball, but plenty can't handle it if the pitcher has a true mix of decent pitches that can keep them off-balance.

Other teams and fans have embraced the new era. Ours… just like this post look for reason to de invest in MSU athletics.
college football has never been more popular and have more parity yet we have posters still complaining
Part of your problem is you think your opinion is the "right" one, and anybody who disagrees with you or has a differing opinion is someone to be shamed and denigrated.

That's just arrogance on your part, or an inability to grasp and/or accept that others have valid, differing opinions and/or reasons for taking the position they do.

In short, you're just behaving like an arrogant, intolerant prick.

Gee whiz, ain’t you special?

Wait a minute, you're not…

There are more than a few of us whose fathers were early Bulldog Club members, and some of them are still living today…

My father was part of the MSU group that went to New York when Jackie Parker was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame, so don’t presume to lecture…

We accept change is part of the journey.

As I mentioned before, people’s priorities change over time, and that’s something you haven’t accepted…

Oh I understand both sides. But I don’t understand someone vehemently against giving yet praise another schools fan base for being all in. I understand not liking NIL, but I don’t understand vehemently opposing giving to NIL yet saying we suck and never will compete. I understand being against change but I don’t understand not giving and coming on a FREE message board and making up lies about the program.

You keep stating this as if it's some crowning achievement by our coaching staff and donors, and yet it doesn't change the fact that we lost 39 players in which we spent time, money, and resources to get here. 39 players which was second most in the SEC and well above the league average of 27. 39 players that we...

- Spent hundreds of hours recruiting
- Spent hundreds of hours developing
- Spent millions of dollars getting/keeping here

And now, poof... they're gone, but it's all good because we kept who we wanted to keep.

Losing 39 players that we didn't want to keep should not be viewed as a feather in this staff's cap. It should be viewed as a collossal waste of resources and money.

Happens at every school players leave. Of those 39, only 6 contributed or played somewhat meaningful snaps. Most of those that left were either on a scholarship only grant or very very little in the way of NIL. Most of those that left were part of Lebbys first class and the Leach/Arnett class of 2023/24. Most were depth guys and easily replaced.

He won’t be the only four star we get commitment from this weekend. But it won’t fit the narrative built in for the negative posters who will be here soon to degrade the kid
