Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.I never got that film, so odd. I should watch it again and see if I feel differently now
The Big Lebowski not a great film but it IS a great vibe, great set pieces.I never got that film, so odd. I should watch it again and see if I feel differently now
Barton Fink. The Big Lebowski not a great film but it IS a great vibe, great set pieces.
Let me see if I can come up with a list of better Coen Bros films. (I’m suddenly busy, will edit.)
I’m back! In no particular order, here are some Coen Bros movies which work better as films, are better put together than TBL.
Miller’s Crossing. Hard to find streaming, my favorite Coen Bros film.
No Country for Old Men.
True Grit.
Burn After Reading, a great comic film.
Hail, Caesar! (Minitory opinion, I get it.)
I think The Empire Strikes Back is damn good but that’s about it.lol at Star Wars fans too funny
A Serious Man, Blood Simple, Inside Llewyn Davis, etc etc etc. their films are typically interesting.Barton Fink.
That's a great list! I recently re-watched No Country for Old Men and forgot how uncomfortable some of those scenes were. Javier Bardem is an incredible actor. I'm currently re-reading McCarthy's Blood Meridian because I guess I enjoy being uncomfortableThe Big Lebowski not a great film but it IS a great vibe, great set pieces.

Two things about Blood Meridian: One, Glanton and Judge Holden were real people. Two, don’t get bogged down into trying to figure out Holden, just say he’s the Devil and go from there. That's a great list! They are still trying to develop a film out of Blood Meridian. Two things about Blood Meridian: One, Glanton and Judge Holden were real people. Two, don’t get bogged down into trying to figure out Holden, just say he’s the Devil and go from there.
Impossible to film, imo. Too violent. The book is gruesome. They are still trying to develop a film out of Blood Meridian.
They will find a wayImpossible to film, imo. Too violent. The book is gruesome.
The tree of dead babies? I guess someone could try. They will find a way
Yeah, they filmed The Road. Great book but that movie was bleak. They will find a way

I enjoy almost all of their films. I always remember seeing Breaking Arizona in theaters, what a hoot!Fargo., O Brother Where Art Thou?....
I have an nyc black 60yo female friend coworker who never saw Raising Arizona. I told her she and her man had to watch. She said it just about killed them. Same with Tropic Thunder. Next up for them is the dude.I enjoy almost all of their films. I always remember seeing Breaking Arizona in theaters, what a hoot!
1 turned us on. We listened LA to mammoth and back this winter in the eurovan
I thought it was beautifulWhat’s our collective akb thoughts on Disclosure Day based on early buzz?
That's a perfect review of this film. I saw it last night and the best I can say about it is it's disappointing.Disclosure Day:

I’m glad you enjoyed it. Caveat: the Alan Turing in the movie wasn’t very much like the real-life Alan Turing. The actual Turing was much more socially adept than the movie makes him out to be.Imitation Game with Benedict Cumberbatch playing Alan Turing during WWII about breaking German Enigma code, thought it was really good.
And “A Beautiful Mind” whitewashes the personality of John Nash. Yes, Nash was mentally ill but he was legitimately an awful person, toxic. Great mathematician, though. The real hero of the story is John Milnor, the greatest American mathematician of Nash’s time, who worked to get Nash back into Princeton, got him a job. Milnor was a 200-pound gorilla, you didn’t say no to John Milnor.I’m glad you enjoyed it. Caveat: the Alan Turing in the movie wasn’t very much like the real-life Alan Turing. Nash was a legitimate genius but Milnor was better, Nash had a hard time dealing with that. (They were graduate students together, at Princeton.) Plus Milnor was a nice guy, got along with everyone. Princeton hired him straight out of graduate school, that never happens. Nash had a habit of pissing people off.
Mathematicians come in all shapes and sizes. There are some who stood out as being truly nice guys, Milnor, Hartshorne, Zariski, Serre.

Hartshorne ... my older granddaughter really liked him. ... when she was a little 5 or 6 year old, she started teaching him how to do some mathematics and he just went along with her.And “A Beautiful Mind” whitewashes the personality of John Nash. Another Hartshorne story, courtesy of a high school classmate of mine who ended up in the mathematics department at Notre Dame. Hartshorne’s visiting and the hotel messes up his reservation and he ends up staying with my friend and his family. My friend had two young daughters and they invited Hartshorne to a tea party, the “tea” being peppermint sticks dunked in the teacups. He stayed with them for an hour.Hartshorne ... my older granddaughter really liked him. ... when she was a little 5 or 6 year old, she started teaching him how to do some mathematics and he just went along with her.
