I watched the new Jack Ryan movie over the weekend, and was very disappointed. I really liked the series and was hoping for something better. The plot was really thin bordering on nonsensical. Action was OK, but nothing we haven’t seen in every other action flick.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
The Big Lebowski not a great film but it IS a great vibe, great set pieces.
Let me see if I can come up with a list of better Coen Bros films. (I’m suddenly busy, will edit.)
I’m back! In no particular order, here are some Coen Bros movies which work better as films, are better put together than TBL.
Miller’s Crossing. Hard to find streaming, my favorite Coen Bros film.
No Country for Old Men.
True Grit.
Burn After Reading, a great comic film.

A Serious Man, Blood Simple, Inside Llewyn Davis, etc etc etc. their films are typically interesting.
That's a great list! I recently re-watched No Country for Old Men and forgot how uncomfortable some of those scenes were. Javier Bardem is an incredible actor. I'm currently re-reading McCarthy's Blood Meridian because I guess I enjoy being uncomfortable

Two things about Blood Meridian: One, Glanton and Judge Holden were real people. Two, don’t get bogged down into trying to figure out Holden, just say he’s the Devil and go from there.That's a great list! Yeah, they filmed The Road. Great book but that movie was bleak.
Love this podcast; one of my favorites. Think they had Tarantino on as a guest once for three movies and he's just incredible when it comes to talking cinema. I think he did Dunkirk, Unstoppable, and King of New York. Really good stuff.
I enjoy almost all of their films. I always remember seeing Breaking Arizona in theaters, what a hoot!
I have an nyc black 60yo female friend coworker who never saw Raising Arizona. I told her she and her man had to watch. She said it just about killed them. Same with Tropic Thunder. Next up for them is the dude.

Listen a bunch on the commute. My favorites are the 80’s ones - Risky Business, Mr. Mom, Breakfast Club, Legend of Billie Jean… some really cool insight/BTS stuff.
After the trip I rewatched Fargo with a head full of info from the pod so fun to listen then rewatch
