The tournament starts Thursday at 3 pm! I myself will be spending a lot of time watching.

I sincerely hope that y’all can embrace these 38 days. What have you got to lose? You’ll see plays of astounding skill and athleticism. The last day of group stage, the drama is off the charts. I enjoy it. Perhaps the fact that I got nothing going on in my life at present is a factor. Who knows, who cares? (Don’t worry about me, we’re going to Greece in the fall.)

Anyway, y’all be y’all and if you hate soccer, well, we each of us got something we hate. Me: disco.

I generally hate soccer, but I'll probably catch some games on the tube ... especially the games involving the US. Otherwise, I'll likely be yelling about the traffic issues caused by games being hosted at Gillette, especially if I need to get to some baseball games around the area.

I don't "hate" soccer and I have made several attempts to try to watch and get into it, however, I just haven't been able to gain an interest in it enough to watch it. I may turn it on in the last few minutes but just not interested most times. Just because its the World Cup doesn't appeal to me. Tried getting into it with the Olympics and just couldn't. I will stick to watching baseball for the summer until football season starts.

I may watch a bit if a game falls into my schedule somehow. I limit the sports I follow because I need a life. With work, raising a challenging kid late in life, family time, some loose following of college FB in the fall, running, lifting weights and sleeping (won’t even mention the 30 hours a week I spend with fake Caitlin Clark pics) I don’t have time to pretend I’m a Euro too.

Title confusie.
There is a World Cup thread where the games will be discussed. And there is this thread, the I hate soccer thread, where posters are free to say how much they hate soccer. Without this thread the soccer haters will invade the World Cup thread and tell us how much they hate soccer and how stupid the soccer fans, such as me, are. This way has less bloodshed, everyone happy, no judgement.

My son-in-law is a huge soccer fan, played competitively in high school and college.... me, not so much

I am a huge hockey fan, played goalie for 30+ years... my son-in-law is clueless about hockey

I will often bring him to Dallas Stars games and explain the game to him in a comically condescending manner, while every four years i get the same treatment from him watching World Cup matches. Over time we have both developed a sense of appreciation for each other's passion.

He and I are taking his 8 year son to a match here in Dallas... $800/ticket for nose bleeds.

Apparently the cheapest tickets for group stages are (currently?) $140. Ridiculous.

I am still trying to understand why it is so difficult (and expensive) to get people from NYC to Met Life Stadium (which is temporarily being called New York/New Jersey Stadium) for the World Cup when they can do it 16+ times each year for NFL games with no problems.

Nope more confusie now. I just spent a week with 100 females and not a single one clearly stated what they’d like from me.

My understanding...most games, you have a whole bunch of people driving and there are a limited number taking public transportation. For the World Cup, you've got much less parking due to the number of countries doing broadcasts/media and the space they take up in the parking lot, then other huge areas of the parking lot are being taken up by the Fan Fests. That means you've got tens of thougnds more in need of public transportation that you'd have for a normal Giants/Jets game.

The Tgar gameplan is to watch as much of every game as possible. This is going to be fun.

Yes, they screwed the pooch by making the cost out of reach IMHO but that’s the way it goes. The games and coverage will be a blast.
What is your preferred winning soccer score?

1) 1-0 in regulation
2) 1-0 in extra time
3) 2-1 in extra time

I like watching the U.S. And other countries once it gets to the knockout stage. I am not interested enough to know any of our players besides Pulisic or listen to any analysis but don't mind catching a few games. Just glad they play it now and not during football season.
