So it looks like football ticket sales are, shall we say, lacking?

If by working, you mean that it still exists with a lot of people are taking part in it, then sure... I guess it's working kinda like taxation and healthcare continue to work.

My question, though, is who is it working for? I'll go ahead and answer. TV execs, coaches, a portion of the players, and the rich guys that you mentioned. For the other 98% of the population that's mostly made of the the fans, there is nothing about this that is working. There are just some that choose to grin and bear it
I've never bought into this line of thinking. You can choose to not give a single amount of time or money to college sports. Therefore, you can't really claim that it's a drag on you. But until the money stops flowing, this thing is working.

Now I would certainly argue it could be better. I think it sucks for a lot of us because the 'business' side of it cascaded on us over the course of a few years, when it should have been slowly implemented ever since the SMU shlt in the mid-80s. We had something that we loved, and it was taken away from us. But that doesn't mean 'it' actually ever needed us.

Basically - this is like the ultimate break up. It's like seeing your wife get bent over and pile drived by Gigachad and neither even know you're alive. Heck they actually encourage you to watch and you continue to do it and you know you'll never be able to change it or affect it (thus why I ain't giving to no NIL - ever......or, until I'm rich).

Shelling out $600 to stay at a crappy hotel is what keeps me away. I'm too far away to not need a hotel. If I bought season tickets, I'm in for $4,200 in hotel costs right off the bat. Just not worth it to me. I make a game a year most years, that's about the best I'll do at this point.
At $4200 per year/ 12 months, that’s $350 per month. Set the full amount aside, and treat it like monthly payments to Starkville housing. Problem solved. Well… maybe not solved. Have you though about building a triplex, renting out 2 of the 3 units to female students(they don’t knock holes in walls) and letting them pay for you to stay in the 3rd unit for free. Mind you, I have actually thought about this, but cash flow prevents me from stepping out there.

I could not disagree more with these takes. No one and I mean no one will give two ***** about his personality if he wins. See Bellichick and Saban. It’s about nothing other than wins and losses.
You are hiring a guy to win, that’s it. I don’t need a used car salesman making me smile while getting screwed.

“Win”, all else does not matter!
Well duh, if he was winning this wouldn't even be a thread. Its an issue because he's not winning and can't communicate to fans why they should still have hope and believe in his program.

We hired Lebby the Monday after the Egg Bowl. It's not like we did some exhaustive search here. Selmon hired the man he wanted.
Selmon had been fired two weeks before. You seem to be under the impression that everyone didn't know it was coming in the first few weeks of that year.

Do you think Selmon was blindsided that Arnett was no longer going to be our coach even after knowing he was the one that fired him?

Selmon probably knew before he took the job that the most likely outcome would end in him needing to hire a new coach before another season. For goodness sake, he had a year to find his guy and plenty turned us down. We weren't getting anyone worth a **** without NIL.

In 2 weeks? During the season?
I don't get these takes. Selmon probably started an exhaustive search to find a new HC the first day he was hired. Who didint' know Arnett could crash and burn?

If he waited to start a HC search after he fired Arnett, that would be considered crazy. He had a full off season to figure out who we had a chance to hire and wanted.

You don’t think we can have conversations during the season? Of course we did with agents and a few zoom calls with coaches
What does and AD do that prevents him from doing a full blown search during the season. Hell, Mullen shopped himself around for years during the season.

So, complaining about his personality is meaningless.
No, its not meaningless, especially when you are trying to communicate to your fanbase why they should still believe in what you are doing. It would be meaningless if he was winning because people support winners regardless.

Agree, Lebby has ZERO PR skills. Selmon really should send him to a training somewhere to help him.
Zero PR skills is an understatement plus they make zero effort to get the coaching staff out on the road to speak to local MSU groups. It is like they don't want to be in front of MSU people.

See that only works with Pat goat and 85 cause they have zero ability to see what is the actual problem was and refuse to see any positive momentum. Imagine being a fan of a team but hating everything about it

Clearly the wrong group for this coaching staff although this group did not encounter similar issues with any of the prior coaching staffs back to Tyler.
Also this wrong group usually has zero issues scheduling the AD (well since Byrne), basketball coaches (since Stansbury) , & baseball coaches (back to Polk 1) every year.

To hear the board tell it. There has never been a worse 4million/yr job in the history of mankind.
There is no such thing as a $4 million a year SEC job that can win more than 4 games. Those days are Looonnnngggg Gone.

The price of a quality sitting G6 Head Coach to take the State job is at least $7.5-$8 million. Anything less will just perpetuate what we have e been getting outside of Mullen and Leach.
