The hawks have some really good players, Purdue hit the ball well and got off to a 6-2 lead after 4 innings but Kyle Alivo of Iowa came in and shut them down over the last 5 innings allowing only 1 run and not many baserunners.
Alivo had fastballs at 95-96, and offspeed pitches with a lot of movement at 86 (probably a slider) and low 80s (changeup?). He had the batters off balance.
Alivo just a redshirt frosh, wow.
Hawk defenders made some great plays and Nerat capped off the offense with a grand slam iirc.
Hawks finished the sweep the next two games and had a reasonable .500 Big 10 record on sort of a rebuilding year I read
