Back to wrestling…

What do people think about James vs Carr tomorrow? A month ago I would have thought Carr next topic but now I actually think Jayden wins. He has looked so damn good and Carr hasn’t looked his best. If James wins this bracket and goes on to beat Green it will probably be the best run I’ve ever seen. Even better than Duke beating Yianni and Jax beating Vito
Appreciate ur thoughts but I only want to know who wins and the score in real time. Keep me posted.

When I saw James beat his guys at Who's Number One in 24 at UPJ, I told my brother who I took with me, that he was the best wrestler in the building. Remember being a little pissed he wasn't going to PSU. When he switched his commit i was so happy. We got a great one folks!
Thanks a lot. I haven't had a chance to watch that tournament yet on the DVR.

Serious question… NCAA finals.

if you knew your buddies were at a bar where the TV was a minute behind live. And you were at the live event.

Would you fire off a group chat with the result of every match as it happens? Or would you wait a minute?
Serious answer, when I am at NCAAs I am too busy enjoying the wrestling to text anybody.
Serious answer. If I am not at NCAAs I am not texting anybody who is there because I am watching on TV.
Serious answer, if I am not at the competition nor watching then when I check the thread discussing the competition I am expecting to see the scores.
Serious answer, if you don't expect to see scores from multiple posters then you're an idiot.
Just being serious.

Are we allowed to discuss?

That person is me. We have YTTV and things are always 30 seconds behind. If I don’t want to know in real time, I wait until the match is done

If you come in after the match, the PBP is the first thread and is complete so you get to read it all the way through before you read any “spoilers.”

I’m smfh at this inane points some are coming up with.

C’mon…

All I (and others - I wasn’t the first nor the second to ask that scores not be posted above the PbP) asked is that you wait until the PbP was done… wait literally seconds… before posting the “wow James w the last second pin!!!” …

That doesn’t equate even a little to “we can’t discuss until the match is over”. Seriously, how much “discussion” is actually happening while people are watching a freaking 6 minute match? Lots of back and forth going on?

None of the posts in and others were complaining about were “discussion”. They were announcing the result immediately to be first… even when you guys know that the most popular poster on this board in the last few years is Slippery… because he does play by play … and apparently people like the play by play a **** ton more than “what a win by Zain!!!”.
Just so I'm clear with everyone here, im.not changing a damn thing with the way I post in these match threads. If you guys want your pbps to be void of discussion then ask the person to do a pbp only thread. That should be the popular board etiquette anyway. This thread was started in April for Christ's sake. All of the sudden you want all of us watching the matches live as they are happening to stfu until your pbp is finished being posted? I'll be the prick here then, why the f*** is this thread being corrupted with your pbp posts that I shouldnt have to scroll over to get to people's thoughts and opinions of the match? See, I can be a whiny ***** too...

How does one find a match easily without looking at the brackets, USA wrestling or flo, with out seeing the score? I do pay for Flo so I have no idea if the recordings are behind a paywall but to quickly find a match I go to the brackets and see the score anyway unless I can some how cover the score with my thumb before pressing play.

It's always mind-blowing when someone shows up on a message board and decides that everyone is doing it wrong when it's simply just been that way for years and all the regulars are perfectly fine with it.

Like Dice said, it's very easy to isolate the PBP post--they all have unique anchor links--and simply reload that until the match is over.

This thread was started in April. Can I ask why it was corrupted with pbp posts that I have to surf over to get to people's thoughts and opinions on the matches?

See, I can be a whiny ***** too...
The keyboard closes on you and crazy stuff happens to you too i see, here I thought it was only me not knowing what I was pressing to mess it up that bad. Lol.

I have a singular example of not wanting to know scores.
2019, Pittsburgh NCAAs. I couldn't attend Saturday. I was the admin on call with the only other people qualified to cover either in Florida golfing or in Pittsburgh themselves. I ended up in house from noon until 3AM. I was too busy to check much, but I did not want to know any results. Everybody in house knew damn well to not mention anything to me, and I never looked at my phone nor a computer. When I got home I watched on replay and I didn't read any threads on here until the wrestling was complete.
How much of an idiot would i have to be get on the NCAA finals thread thinking I could read along without seeing the scores?

Is the national team set at each weight by both guys in Final X and the runner up at this tournament? If so is there ever a true 3rd match wrestled? Say that Sealey takes 3rd tomorrow and James wins the weight. The top 3 on the national team would be Green, James, and Carr but Carr and Sealey didn’t wrestle at this tournament. Would they have a match to determine that 3rd spot on the team?

Yes. True third is wrestled at Final X as well.

The bickering in this thread is beyond annoying. A great day for PSU wrestlers in the competition, and we have all this other nonsense to wade through.

Folks are always welcome to post results, whether it is accompanied by PBP, or inserted into an edited post, or anything else. Any information, in any competition, that involves a PSU wrestler, a PSU recruit, or a NLWC wrestler, is always welcome.

There is absolutely no rule about waiting to post reactions, or a final score, until PBP is posted in a thread. We are fans of wrestling, and those that bring info about it should always be encouraged.

@SlipperyPete. when he does PBP, usually makes a post at the end of the 1st period (in folkstyle), and then updates that post after the subsequent periods. As such, his complete PBP often appears in a thread before any final scores for the match. I generally didn't follow that approach in the many years in which I did PBP, and would post my match PBP after the end of the match, and as such it would be after several posts that had the results at the end of a period, or even the final results.

There is no correct or incorrect approach in terms of how to post PBP, either for those active/following along in the thread during the competition, or those that read it hours later. It gets posted when the person that is giving of their time and knowledge gets to it.

This is probably a non-issue for 95% of those that frequent this board. For the other 5%, just chill out, and enjoy a place where we follow all aspects of PSU wrestling.

I saw a post or two about this earlier today in the thread. But a picture certainly helps for those that weren't watching the competition.

Edit: I should add that I've encountered a lot of strange situations in my many years or reffing wrestling, but I don't recall ever seeing or dealing with an incident like this in a match I reffed.

The other way to look at that:

NCAA finals. Your TV is a minute behind and you don’t want any spoilers. Would you ask your buddies to add you to their NCAA finals group chat and then tell them they can’t text about any results?

Under Flo hit the search button on the main banner, then specify videos, then type in the wrestler you want to see. You shouldn't get any spoilers this way.

Actually you can’t if you come in an hour after the match.

Do you realize that there is absolutely no downside to the “I gotta post the results first guy” doing the same thing? No downside other than he can’t be the “post first guy”.
You are doubling down? Is this really the hill you want to die on? Seriously, I don't understand. I thought you were joking.

The "Rope-a-dope" moniker was out there before NCAAs.

NCAAs was riddled with finger grabbing and other stalling tactics. Robideau was not the only offender but was clearly one, and has done little to dispel that notion since the Duke match. I'm not losing any sleep if he has become the poster child for it.
I think I saw him in the YouTube Stall Camp video!😉

KD told me about him and then I saw him as an 8th grader at Elite 8 and you could see then he was special
