Seems like you have to be able to get to legs quickly and outside a tie against Merrill. Like people have said, he's using his headgear as a weapon and tool to inflict pain.

It still applies. The top 3 in this class are on the ridiculous level. Jax, Beau and Jayden. As Willie pointed out they all feel like number ones in a P4P ranking.
One already won an NCAA championship (and smashed the field), another is a possible favorite next year, and then there is James. Duke and Blaze were kind of an anomaly (in that there were a pair of incoming recruits who were already legit world class), but there are 3 in the next class. Crazy how good some of these young men are, so young.

I don't think anybody had any idea James was this good when he flipped to PSU a year ago. He may redshirt next year, but make no mistake, he could win the entire thing as a freshman.

James with too much offense. 8-0 in the first. Super impressive

10-0 tech. Wow! I thought James would win but I expected a MUCH closer match

I kind of hate that for Sealey. He looked super distraught afterwards. After such a great open that’s a tough blow
James is freaking outstanding.

There may not be such a thing as redshirts next year if the NCAA five years to compete happens.

Yeah I would have been caught out on a ledge if I had given a pick on that one.
No way these highschool kids should be competing with established talents. I keep seeing it happen and have such a hard time picking it.

Only people who had James were his coaches, family and some Penn st fans who just don't understand.

From what I've seen being proposed for the 5 for 5 concept, the 5 year clock would start at high school graduation or at 19th birthday, whichever occurs first. Under these rules, one would burn a year of eligibility if taking a grey shirt after HS graduation.

Of course, nothing is final yet, but this apparently is what's being considered.

Even if possible, why in the world would you want to shelf this kind of talent. Like holy s***.

Which just underscores the abject stupidity of their current proposal. All states ban 20 year olds from competing as HS athletes and most ban 19yr olds so 19 or graduation doesn't change anyone's eligibility.

Cole Mirasola keeps his tournament alive with a 7-0 win over Lucas Stoddard of Army. After scoring six points in the first period via a four-point throw before gaining two exposure points, Mirasola also picked up a late stepout point in the second period to reach the margin of victory. He'll face Hayden Zilmer of Minnesota RTC in the consolation quarterfinals at 125 kilograms.
