We are are only going to be favored in 2 games this year. That means we will be dogs in 10 of them. To get to 7-5 Lebby would have to have 5 upset (by point spread) wins, along with 4 conference wins + Minnesota. The schedule is much harder this year with 9 conference games and P4.

I think this team goes 4-8, either beating Minnesota with one conference upset or losing to MN and 2 conference upsets.

I think so too. The path to 6 wins is pretty much win every game we're less than about a 10-point underdog in (ULM, Minnesota, South Carolina, Auburn, UT-Martin?), plus 1 big significant upset. In other words, everything has to break right for us.

I think we win the first four. And are 4-0 headed to Alabama. I have said it for months now but peope of this board just like last year are underestimating our talent. Add in the upgrades at coaching (hell majority of yall posting in this thread couldn’t name the new coaches) and we will have every opportunity to win 7 games and potentially more.
Ok. Not going to argue, but how about a bet? I obviously think there is no chance that we go 4-0 heading into Bama. So, how about a nice friendly bet? Name the amount and we won't worry about odds or weighting.

If 6-6 really isn't enough for Lebby to keep his job, he pretty much has to start out 4-0.

There is zero chance we fire a coach who ups his win total from the previous year for a second year in a row. Zero point zero chance.
This is where Lebby shows his brilliance. Start slow and never pickup much momentum. It’s hard to live up to high fan expectations.

You boomer types are weird. Seem to always resort to this sort of thing. It's an anonymous message board, unless you are Bo Bounds or Charlie, nobody knows or cares who you are and what you do. Stick to the point and quit trying to shame folks with crap you know nothing about.

I'm just trying to help you. You look like a dipshlt trying to talk about how much folks donate. The only thing worse is @paindonthurt trying to make internet bets about everything.
No the only thing worse is someone who is wrong time and again but they either can’t admit it or run and hide when proven wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt.

So just to play the "what if" game......if he is let go midseason.....does that mean they fork Arnett again as the interim?

I just think at a certain point you have to win 6 or 7 games. I know in prior seasons we had some "moral" victories from the standpoint of taking greater talent to the wire, but their is also the bad coaching decisions (Like really bad). So with that, the lack of attendance, and not able to get 6 wins.....we need to look elsewhere

A 24-team playoff is coming. That will get rid of bowl games, but an 8-4 (and some seasons a 7-5) season will be a playoff team. We cannot be happy with 6-6 in 2026. I can live with giving him another year at 7-5, but 6-6 or worse and we need to cut bait.

That being said, I think we go 2-10. This team is going to be awful. I do not see any positives in what we are going to put on the field.

6-6 would be good enough to keep him. We won't fire him for improving his win total.
I agree personally, despite it being reported that it's 7-5 or bust.

In that case, we need to be at least 3-1 (still preferably 4-0) at the end of September for Lebby to have a good chance to keep his job.

Or maybe I have been to practice and been in the seal instead of sitting on my coach getting drunk in rankin county like yourself… ever thought about that big guy?
I have posted repeatedly that he has to win 7 and if he doesn’t we move on. But I do see the talent improvement and the coaching staff upgrades. You on the other hand have dug your heels in and no matter what Selmon does or Lebby does, or for that matter anything Mississippi state does your gonna be on the opposite side of it. You are the worse type of fan. You don’t support the school. You don’t go to games. You don’t and won’t even donate money. So keep sitting on your couch in 047 and eating Pringle’s drinking your Benchmark.

First, https://www.grammarcheck.net/editor/ this is a free website that I suggest you try. Second, I had a feeling you were Mrs. Lebby. Sitting on the coach? That is called a Freudian slip, sir. I do give to the NIL, and I have bought season tickets every year since 86. Pretty much every member of my adult family graduated from State. But I also happen to agree with the criticisms that you are getting. So, what kind of fan does that make me? It is kind of hard to dismiss everybody as they just do not care.

A lot of Mississippi State experience informs me as to exactly how this ends for Lebby.

I will never root against us, but it would be quicker and better in the long run if he goes ahead and shats the bed early to put the pressure on the AD and pres.

I still have a smidge of hope he's got more talent in him than I've seen so far, but not much.

Well, I must say it started with my dad in 1962 in terms of attending home games. But did they even have season tickets back then? I do not know. But he was a die-hard and went to state games until almost the day he died in August 05.

fire him mid season and then what? Arnett? Bring back that who is our designated interim coach?
Well, we do have the personnel to RuNdAbAwL. I could see us firing Lenny and promoting him, and he potentially knocks off Ole Miss.

And then we will hire him permanently.

I think they talk about this type of stupidity in the Bible.

I’m ready for the local sports writer/lapdogs to roll out the stories bout Arnett wearing cowboy boots and driving a pickup truck, followed by the genespage mantra “he just gets it” or calling Arnett “El Capitan”.

what embarrassing bilge

First 4 games:
ULM
@ Minnesota
@ South Carolina
Missouri
Second 4 games:
Alabama
@ LSU
Oklahoma
@ Texas
If we start 1-3, we're all but guaranteed to start 1-7. If that happens, Lebby has to go at some point during that stretch.
His last session regardless

In my real life conversations, most people think Minnesota is an easy win. They were 7-0 at home last year - that will be a test.

South Carolina and Mizzou are our winnable SEC games, but I don't see it. This is a 2-10 team that might go 3-9.
Sc and definitely mizz are less than 20% W

I see 2-2 in the first 4. Then what?
I see this also. Not going to beat Minnesota or South Carolina. I think we lose only by 7-10 pts. though. Should be competitive games, but we just don't have the mojo to win close games yet.

Mizz breaking in new OL and new QB…. They return zero starters on defense and Hardy is gonna be doubtful as of today. To say this game is going to be a blowout is premature. Hell last year at Mizz we had plenty of opportunities to win
SC… check notes finished 4-8. That’s right one game less than us. Why is this game so hard to see that we can win??? Sellers showed last year he’s not a world beater. Their best portal tackle is injured already and it’s Beemer ball. Sure they hired.. Briles as OC but his stock has fallen significantly.

I guess you missed the AzSt game and AR games last year.
Minnesota home wins last year… Buffalo, Nw St, Rutgers, Purdue, Nebraska, Mich State, and Wisconsin… only Nebraska finished with a winning record at 7-6…

Yeah I watched the Ark and AZST games. I also watched the UTK, UTA, and UF games.
