After NCAAs next year.

I hope i'm wrong, but it's possible. He certainly has the talent to win as yellow medals as he wants. Guy who could go on a JB/Smith type run.
I can't see Mitchell not getting a spark of wanting to at least do Senior Freestyle with the Olympic year coming right now.

I wouldn't rule out a Cael like ending to his career though. World Silver in 2027 ... Olympic Gold in 2028. Onto the next thing, for Cael it was coaching, for Mitch, it could be anything.

Am I crazy to think James-Carr is the final?

Not crazy at all. I was hesitant to pick James with Duke in the bracket but now I can see him making a run. He teched Sealey last year although Sealey is much improved this year. 74kg is stacked but James is special. James vs Caliendo first round. Good test right out of the gate

No. But, beyond that, I'm just stuck on the fact that Mikey Caliendo find outs he does not have to face Mesenbrink in this field and then finds out he will have to go through both non-Mesenbrink PSU guys (albeit one of them isn't Duke) just to get to the semis.

And for anyone doubting Mitch's recent comments about what his next "anything" will be, here's some foreshadowing I first noticed a couple years ago.

Reminder: Weigh ins are 7:30-8 a.m. ET. Because this is a USABracketing.com events, brackets likely won't be out until right at 10 a.m. or perhaps just before then.

mornin everyone .... day of WTT ... plume of smoke from my morning stogie fills the air ... I'll watch today, but is it because the work calendar is slow or am I really into this off-season? Am I the only one who feels the WTT team should be finalized at the conclusion? Do we really need Final X?

Good morning. If anything, I'd turn Final X into a two-day event and get rid of this standalone WTT tournament. It's treated as a non-spotlight event being contested on a Thursday and Friday, so why not just wrestle these brackets to completion the day before Final X and then have Final X and be done with it.

no. absolutely not. We've done that in that past and it's ridiculous. Same with OTT. Final X is the absolute most fair way to determine the team. Having guys wrestle through the mini-tourney to wrestle the next day is an injustice to the point of even having the tournament/try-outs. USA Wrestling has one job - to get our best team.

Final X is also an easy sell in terms of marketing, promotion and attendance. There is no need to rush this.

To be clear, and I should have made it so in the original post, I was not advocating for getting rid of one or the other. Just responding to the poster's thought of getting rid of one and how I thought it would make the most sense if they did. I agree with your points.
