Arsenal finally breaks through at the 83rd minute mark, to go up 1-0 over West Ham. Likely to have big implications for both teams in the regular season standings.

Wow, West Ham with an equalizer in the 95th minute (stoppage time). Lots of fouls on the corner kick that could have been called (but weren't), so VAR is reviewing the play.

VAR has indicated that there was a possible foul on the GK before the goal, so the ref is reviewing the video.

NO GOAL. Foul by an attacker on the GK.

My take (after watching the video multiple times), is that there was enough of a foul on the GK that overturning the goal was warranted.

I’m still waiting for my testicles to descend. Good win, though.

When I was a lad one of my favorite books was about the Battle of Midway, “Incredible Victory” by Walter Lord. I read it cover to cover more times than I can count and one thing I vividly remember was how ferociously the Japanese pilots were fighting when they were down to their last carrier, either they save this carrier or they’d be ditching in the ocean. West Ham fought hard today.

I'm an Arsenal fan and, while there were fouls all over the place on that play, the GK interference HAS to be called. If pulling down on the GK's arms is allowed, imagine what set pieces become. That being said, there needs to be some kind of reform on what has become commonplace on those type plays. That and the epidemic of shirt pulling.

I was reading some Bluesky posts on the game and it was all “It was a clear foul on the GK but there were seven different fouls on seven different players on that play because that’s what happens on corner kicks, every single time.”

I have to disagree with you, Tom. If there was no goal on the play and the ball was cleared or went out of bounds, there would not have been a foul called on the play made against the keeper. It was a weak call.

With that said, the Arsenal keeper needs to be much more assertive in that situation. Plus, Arsenal as a team needs to decide to take this title. If they continue to play passively, they are going to lose enough points to let Man City swoop in.

The irony is that is basically Arsenal's entire offensive game plan all year. Win a corner or restart, mug a keeper/defender as well as the entire box...hope for a rebound and goal. No doubt that is a foul....the only real question is if VAR would actually call it as it's 50/50 anymore.

I’m not going to let this inconvenient fact bother me.

What do you expect them to do with all the injuries they have? Here is the current list:
Maddison, Solanke, Odobert, Simons, Davies, Kudus, Kulusevski, Vicario, Davies, Romero. Quite a bit of starters

I’m a Spurs fan so I am well aware of the injuries. Am I not allowed to wallow?
