Semantics, of course they should have gotten something for yrs, but not pay for play and the chaos that College Football has turned into. 24 team playoff will basically kill Bowl games and Conference championships.
The mistake is not watching the game
For it’s pure enjoyment. Don’t care about the team, its history or anything. Or where you want to school. Don’t make it personal. Watch the game if it’s interesting to you and worthy of investing your time and money.

Isn't that a good thing? At least for me it is.
Bowls are glorified scrimmages in which many players opt out. What was supposed to be a reward for a great season has become a chore for those who weren't good enough. Bowls wants 5-7 teams to be eligible now so they have the right to select them. Was the intent of Bowls ever to include teams that were mediocre or subpar?
Conf Championship games are already unnecessary with a 12 team playoff. It's just another game in which players risk injury. Is it really a problem to have a champ or even co-champs based on the regular season? Wasn't that how things were done for decades?
