DTF St Louis wrapped up last night on HBO. Anyone watch it? Quirky show with some great performances. Lots of sadness in this show.

May give this a look; HBO is on a tear with Sunday nights. If you’re looking for something fun and quirky, Deadloch on Amazon is wonderful. Imagine True Detective with female leads but in New Zealand and everyone talks like Bluey. Oh and there’s murders to solve.

Looking for a new show. Really enjoying Rooster and The Pitt. Liked Paradise but might've jumped the shark in the last episode. Waiting for all episodes to be released before starting For All Mankind. Started Monarch but kinda petered out. Finished American Primeval which was pretty good but not great like Godless.

DTF St Louis is off beat. Provided you’re not watching with kids or someone who requires a “ride into the sunset” ending, it’s a worthy candidate (IMHO).

Not sure what you have or haven’t seen but The Abandons on Netflix scratches that western itch (great cast led by Gillian Anderson and Lena Headg) a bit. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms if you’re a fan of GoT and/or medieval times. Mindhunter on Netflix is really well done but only two seasons. Last of Us of course.

Interesting. The only show on that list that I've I watched is Pluribus. The first half of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was so enjoyable, but I wished it hadn't taken such a dark turn (though I understand why it did). Mindhunter was great. Perfectly cast, wish there had been just one more season.

Here is another one, not a new show, but I just finally got around to watching Animal Kingdom.
6 seasons. Can be gritty and clearly far-fetched plots, but I liked it. I have some ties to Oceanside, CA, that may have helped.

Animal Kingdom starts very well, kind of goes off the rails.

One of the perks of being an MLS season ticket holder is the expanded access to Apple TV this season. We've been watching Ted Lasso, which my wife loves. I've been watching For All Mankind. I've always been fascinated by space. Had an uncle who worked at Marshall, and I grew up 2 miles from the centrifuge in Johnsville, PA. It's mostly excellent, with a couple of bugs. I know one is "fixed" for TV. That's the 2 second communications lag between earth and moon. One other might be a spoiler, so I'll avoid that one.

Cannot wait. Think this season is going to be really, really action packed. Am told because of the writer's strike the last two episodes (which were to be a big naval battle) were punted to S3, so they will kick off the season which I think picks up right were S2 left off. This preview does a nice job of hinting at something that GoT is very good at, and that is taking someone we don't like and finding a way to make them sympathetic (believe that will happen with Aegon in exile). June cannot come soon enough.

Didn't know Kurt Sutter is behind The Abandons, gonna have to check that out

Thought I'd give the new Man on Fire series a shot on Netflix, mostly because I like that actor.
I'm 3 episodes in and don't really like it. It's very dark, visually and a lot of subtitles, which I normally don't mind but they are tough in an action movie. 🤷‍♂️

Recently started watching the 12 Monkeys series, currently streaming on Prime. Now into season 2. One of those rare shows that really grabbed me from the outset and made me want to keep watching. Highly recommend. I haven't watched the Bruce Willis movie yet (have never seen it), intend to do that when I've finished the series.

The Bruce Willis movie is one of my favorites. Very well done. Includes Brad Pitt and David Morse.

As an aside, is it just me or are there no longer shows/movies being made about high school/college/immediate post-college life? As a Gen Xer born in '74, my HS/college years were full of these kinds of shows and movies - 90210, St. Elmo's Fire, Party of Five, Freaks and Geeks, Reality Bites, Empire Records, the John Hughes films, Kevin Smith films, Singles, Fight Club, Trainspotting, Ghost World, etc. Everything seems to continue to cater to our generation and it's either nostalgia based (like Stranger Things) or about mid-life crisis. Just so weird but maybe I'm not catching the right shows/movies...

Would add that while the adult stuff in 'Your Friends and Neighbors' is very entertaining, I really enjoyed some of the subplots with the kids in school who are figuring out things, dating, etc. Oh - I guess I missed 'Euphoria'; maybe I'll give that another try.....

I'm about at the very end of the Baby boomers and like a lot of those you mentioned. Freaks and Geeks does not get the credit it deserves.

Freaks and Geeks is top-notch but, really, what’s there to be nostalgic about from high school? You’ll always be reminded of your clumsiness, f that.

College is the same thing, really. You can’t keep from obsessing how you should have handled things differently. Life would have been so much easier if only.
