You missed it (born in 60s and too young for Nam that is). Growing up in the latchkey kid era was great. Playing unstructured games with friends until the sun went down and mom yelled down the street that dinner was ready. Badass music of all sorts on the radio. Muscle cars

No, I didn’t miss the latchkey era and roaming the neighborhood and woods with friends. Just not quite as old as you!

I used to operate an M-60 for nightly public live fire exercises at Camp Lejeune. Running off a 250 round belt with tracers is right up there in the list of life’s joys. Cleaning “the Pig” after each show was another matter. I always laughed when I saw Rambo firing an M-60. With the belt, that thing weighs 40 lbs and kicks like a mule. Hell, even Matt Brown (75th Ranger Regiment) wouldn’t be able handle “the Pig” standing up.
Hey, hey, lay off Rambo.

I think I’m heading to Vancouver this September for a week and I’m seriously thinking of taking a drive to Hope, BC where they filmed most of First Blood. They’ve got a tourist map of all the famous spots.

And I’ll bring a whole lotta Body Bags
Everybody has that one movie that they've seen more than any other. Rambo is mine, for whatever reason. I'd definitely travel a little way out of my way to see some of those sites.

Rutgers landed a high school recruit today (4/28/2026), not a transfer. 2027 recruit Jake Clayton from Point Boro; projects as a 165 pounder in college.
