I see several mentions of Randy Travis. RIP Durham native Don Schlitz. The only member of The Grand Ole Opry to ever be inducted for songwriting rather than performing.

I know Don Dixon was born in SC but he is a NC guy. He went to UNC and he was part of the band Arrogance.
I had just mentioned Schlitz a couple of posts above yours. No. Lead singer Donnie Weaver was honored last year in Kenly and died several months later.
Yeah. I was thinking of Waltet Scott who sang The Cheater and was later murdered by his wife.

Do you remember seeing Ween at Cats Cradle during that same time span? I have it on vinyl but it would have been better to be there.
