I fully respect hawkbucks sources. They are very very good. However in this one case I do think this information is pretty solid. Having a direct family connection is about as good as it gets - its also why the information may be just slightly delayed getting to Hawkbuck. There is also a possibility that 1 of the main competition is no longer an option. If the rumor is true.
So are you saying "favorable" for McCowan versus what hawkbucks is saying?

That's too bad. I think her perimeter game would add the depth needed.
Certainly would be a great addition to the team. I think the reason there is skepticism is because she is going to have to make some concessions to attend Iowa. No guaranteed starting spot, no guarantee of minutes and I am not even sure what the monetary figures look like. I think, from what I hear, she liked her visit and likes Iowa. But, those in her circle see "better situations" elsewhere in regards to "guarantees".

Hawkbuck have you heard how her visit went to Iowa State? This may be where things turned in Iowa's favor. Now there may be a couple other options but I think Iowa and Iowa State were her 2 top options.

Have h3ardca new name..Kaelyn Carroll a 6'3 wing from Kentucky. Any idea if that is true? Would be a good get as she would only be a sophomore.
Iowa don’t have a true wing on the roster. Iowa can play with a 5-10 guard like Kylie or Stremlow, but it would be interesting to have a 6-3 wing in the roster. Of course nothing would be given or guaranteed, she would have to earn her PT, but maybe Iowa can offer more than the 11 MPG that Kentucky give to her, a 5 stars recruit #18 in the 2025 class.

We shall see.
Again, I would love to add her to the mix. Makes the rotation longer and stronger. I hope my intel is wrong on this one. And, yes if something has changed in the last 12 hours, that may be the most up to date intel that someone else is reporting. Again, would love to see her is black and gold.

I have not heard anything as to how her visit went in Ames.

Like I said Hawkbucks sources are great - from what I am hearing and this is now 3 different sources - things changed over the weekend and decision was recently made on Monday. You have Old - wrestling fan seeming to confirm it - 1 other individual I know that is semi tied into the program - and now there is an recruiting individual that seems to be confirming the same information. That is 3 different sources that are coming from different confirmations - 1 family, 1 school, 1 very prominent recruiting source all confirming the same information.

We will see - I hope in goes in the Hawkeye's direction. If what I am hearing is factual the visit did not go well.

Is anyone going to the baseball game this afternoon?

Depth with 6'3 is greatly needed. Possible path for a player like that to find her potential. As of now, Iowa doesn't really have an athletic defensive/rebounding answer for Heiden getting into early (frequently) foul trouble. And a 3pt shot? Doubt they are in on Carroll, but it sure would be a major bonus for the team to land a player like her.

Do you also think Iowa more 3-4 additions? Besides Raegan, do we have any others targets?

She went 6/11 - 3PT in her only game where she played 25 minutes this season. We don’t know if she can do that consistently, because she only averaged 11 MPG and was a very inconsistent true freshman. She can play at the 3 or 4, like Sarah Strong and Joyce Edwards, but obviously she’s not at their same level.

Yes...they really do. As a fan, it is a little perplexing and even frustrating. If I was coach and trying to make my living herding these cats (aka recruiting)...I would go nuts. You couldn't pay me enough.
Someone likely became aware of the likely commit and made a last minute offer. Is she still going to the baseball game?

Oh I am sure there are players who could come here but not sure any of them have a change to make Iowa better like she could.....

Plenty of players that came make a difference. Needing role players that can fill in in a pinch is different than needing a constant scoring threat.

And looking at previous years stats does not always tell the story.

While Allissa Pili was good...she exploded after transferring and was Player of the Year in the Pac 12.

Do you think that perhaps these mid tier players are taking a chance and possibly overestimating their value! This system seems nuts this year, and I can’t blame players for wanting to get all they can.

McCowan‘s dad and handlers seem to mimic the Addie Deal situation. Sounds like a red flag to me.
I don't know that I would call it red flags. I do know they have made a significant for the most part non financial request that with Iowa States issues this past year they were unwilling to accommodate. My understanding is Iowa is the same way. Now in this position they can ask for the moon, and I think thats ok. They are still looking at the best financial package they can get for her. There is nothing wrong with that. If she comes to Iowa she is taking a reduced monetary package. Lets just call a spade a spade. This is where she wants to go though. So we will see. Iowa State dropped their offer after this weekend from what I was told. So this is a new college that has come into the picture. Iowa State was offering twice the amount Iowa was offering.

You're being purposely vague, I get it, but if she and her family are making requests for accommodations that are not equal those the other players already on the roster are getting, I hope Jan gives them a firm no. She's a good player, but she's not of the caliber of Ava, McKenna, or Dani to be expecting special treatment or privileges.

Todd Leistikow of the register indicated Addies parents were unhappy with her usage and were asking Jan for assurances regarding future playing time and starting. Jan of course makes no promises.

I responded about McCowan in another post that there was some weirdness requested by her camp. None of that has changed as far as I know.

From the post out on multiple boards, the extras are not NIL related as in more direct money. I would even go as far to say it goes beyond PT/starter request as well coz they are common for players to ask.

Like I said in that other post, what some may seem as weird others may not. However, both reports coming out of a very accurate discord, said not NIL related and one of posters framed it as crazy asks (plural) that were "super weird."

The other thing that makes me believe it's other than starter/PT asks is we already know from Aaron W. saying he didn't want his daughter playing for a coach that did guarantee a starter role and/or PT. I suspect that if the only none NIL related items were just about starter/PT, we'd never hear of McCowan's name in the pipeline. Jan would of rejected those 2 items as DOA. Since her name is still being kicked around and Jan will never budge on starter/PT request or else she would jeopardize the McW commit, leads me to believe it's part of this other "crazy ... super weird" requests. Anyways, that's my 2 cents on it.

No show at the game...will be considering TCU and OSU. Still may end up in IC, but I wouldn't be too sure of any of that at this point. TBD.
I am curious what you are hearing because I am hearing conflicting stories. In one scenario it’s McCowan who got the raw end of the deal, either through a lack of communication, change in priorities or cold feet by Iowa. The other scenario is McCowan got a better offer and decided to move on. In either case she will be a bench piece For any of the teams she is considering. From everything I can gather they were willing to commit so the whole scenario is extremely odd As to how things changed so quickly. From tracking back the sources of the possible commitment I was aware of they were all coming from the McCowan camp. None from the coaching staff. All in all I think it’s a bit of the Wild West not only for recruits but also for teams trying to navigating a quickly changing environment.
