Looking at U20 97kg entries ... really hoping Elijah Brown registers here. He'd have an excellent chance of making the world team.
Does he usually wrestle freestyle? I don’t remember seeing him in the past but I really hope he does. Would be great for him to get more matches against elite guys
He won Fargo in 2024 at 190, a few months after DNP at states at 172. Planned to do Fargo again in 2025 but needed to recover from a knee injury.
Pretty sure this is his 15th birthday year. He won 13/14 age PJW championship last year.

Just want the record to reflect that, for probably the first time since I started doing this, I finally put together a bare bones version of a story to have ready for when the NLWC guys finally register. This proactive move on my part likely ensures their entries won't populate until Sunday night.

Haha, no, he's registered through the NLWC (though I suspect you're making some sort of joke that I am unaware of).

Suriano… wondered what happened to him. It’s so hard to follow his constant “transferring” maneuvers. Talk about a guy that “coulda been a contender”. IMO, should’ve stuck with Cael & Co but got so caught up in ‘wanting to be wanted’ that potential got squeezed to the side w/ 2nd tier coaching.
*Whew* finally. They were making me nervous.

Asher at 79KG. Is he getting ready for 174 next year too??

Penn State wrestling will be well represented at next week's US Open in Las Vegas. Here's who will be there.
Don’t know that I’ve ever seen Asher wrestle freestyle. Have a feeling it’s gonna be a wild ride! Can’t wait. Will be interested to see if Connor weighs in at the 97KG limit or if he comes in light.
I’m definitely most interested in Asher. I haven’t seen him wrestle any freestyle that I can remember but he should have a great shot at making the team I think. 79kg isn’t super stacked at the U20 level. Main competition will likely be Ryan Burton, Mario Carini, Emmit Sherlock, Travis Grace, and Maximus Dhabolt. Pretty much all hs kids except for Burton. Asher can definitely win this weight. It will be interesting to watch him in free though because a lot of his scrambling won’t work in freestyle.
Burton was a bad matchup for Cunningham in HS. Beat Asher twice in 2025, by fall (up 11-4) in the Powerade finals and then a 6-1 win in the Escape the Rock finals.
I think Burton is probably the favorite at the weight but Asher should be right there. I think Asher has really jumped levels. Burton had a decent redshirt year but Asher’s was better I would say
Would make sense from a lineup perspective. If making 174 is reasonable/feasible, why not compete for the now vacant lineup spot? On paper, appears that Henckel would be the main competition, assuming that James isn't a factor (i.e., redshirt or non-optimal weight).
