Genuine question and I am not trying to be a catalyst for inflammatory discussion.

I am from NY, and most people I know got married after college. What's the general Gen Z consensus? Are people getting married young, is it a wrestling thing (lol), a midwest, mid-atlantic thing?

It's a NIL thing!

I think you know what it is by your disclaimer. It's likely a religious thing.

i suspect that the answer is sort of in between, i.e., the inclination toward marriage is almost surely lower in the aggregate. that said, among those afflicted with it, they're all in, and earlier.

i suspect D1 athletes (other than stick and ball revenue sports) might lean earlier as well, for the simple reason that being a D1 athlete naturally tends to instill a certain discipline and maturity to how you run your life.

+1 BYU has to have the greatest percentage of married athletes of any major university, and it's probably not close. Related: their men's basketball team is made up primarily of guys who are not LDS; I don't believe a single one of them (the non-LDS guys) is married.

Are wrestlers the only students that get engaged and even married while in school?

This is a wrestling forum. I doubt many posters here are stalking the social media of the general student populace. However, a student athlete with some NIL money might be able to afford a ring where a regular student can’t afford one working in the dining halls.

For some it takes a while to find someone who says yes. My wife once asked me why I married her and I said because you said yes.

I guess that’s possible. I never thought $$ for a ring per se held people back.

And some of us are so desirable that the women are begging us for a ring! 😆

Vintage video of Ag and his wife meeting for the first time. Fortunately for Ag, he's a faster runner than his wife.

This may seem archaic in 2026, but certain people of faith still believe it is wrong to have sex before marriage. Might help explain earlier marriages than the typical college student population!
